Prohibiting the Importation into New Zealand of certain Publications.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twelfth day of March, 1917.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-first day of December, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the Gazette of the same date, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance of the powers conferred on him by section forty-six of the Customs Act, 1913, as extended by section two of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Amendment Act, 1915, prohibited the importation into New Zealand of certain newspapers and other periodical literature: And

whereas it is expedient to amend the said Order in Council in the manner hereinafter appearing:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred on him by section forty-six of the Customs Act, 1913, and section two of the Regulation of Trade and Commerce Amendment Act, 1915, and of all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf, doth hereby amend the Schedule to the hereinbefore-recited Order in Council by adding to the list of newspapers therein contained the periodical publications specified in the Schedule hereto (being publications published in the United States of America).

Amending Notification as to Purchase of Sheep-skins by the Government.

WHEREAS by notice dated the 31st January, 1917, and published in the Gazette of the 1st February, 1917, it was notified, for the information of the public and of all persons concerned, that the New Zealand Government is prepared to purchase sheep-skins for and on behalf of His Majesty’s Government of the United Kingdom on the terms and conditions and in accordance with the scheme therein set forth: And whereas it is desirable to amend the said notice in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, it is hereby notified, for the information of the public and of all persons concerned, that clause 11 of the said notice is hereby revoked, and the following clause substituted therefor:—

“11. For all services rendered by a Government broker as the agent of the seller the broker shall be entitled to charge the seller such commission or other remuneration as may be in accordance with the established custom of the trade in the locality, irrespective of whether in accordance with that custom such commission or remuneration has hitherto been payable by the buyer or the seller.”
