to commemorate the foundation of that portion of New Zealand in which each such port is situated :-
22nd January at the ports of Wellington and Wanganui,
29th January at the port of Auckland,
1st February at the ports of Nelson and Westport,
23rd March at the ports of Dunedin and Invercargill,
31st March at the ports of New Plymouth and Patea,
1st November at the port of Wairau,
1st December at the ports of Greymouth and Hokitika,
16th December at the ports of Lyttelton and Timaru;
provided that when any such day falls on a Sunday the following day is in lieu thereof to be deemed to be so appointed; and provided further that when any such day falls on a Saturday the following Monday is, in lieu thereof, if the Comptroller of Customs so directs, to be deemed to be so appointed; also to appoint to be kept by the Customs as public holidays throughout New Zealand, after the hour of mid-day, the days on which are held a general election under the Legislature Act, 1908, and the election of Licensing Committees under the Licensing Act, 1908.

WAIA PU COUNTY COUNCIL.
Notice of Result of Poll on a Proposal to raise a Loan.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Awanui Riding of the County of Waiapu taken on the 20th day of February, 1917, on a proposal to borrow the sum of £2,500 for the purpose of forming and metalling the Awanui-Tikitiki Road, the number of votes cast for the proposal was 67, the number of votes cast against the proposal was nil, and the number of informal votes was nil.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the City of Christchurch, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

Notice of Result of Poll.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the City of Christchurch taken on the 1st day of March, 1917, on the proposal of the Christchurch City Council to borrow the sum of £27,000, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 1,309, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 2,450.
And I declare the proposal to be rejected.

THE following notice, received from the Chairman of the Council of the County of Thames, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

THAMES COUNTY COUNCIL.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Thames Waikawau Special-rating Area, a special district duly constituted within the County of Thames, taken on the 1st day of March, 1917, on the proposal of the Thames County Council to borrow the sum of £1,500 for the purpose of constructing bridges over and across streams which cross the Thames to Waikawau Road, the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 24, and the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 9.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Prohibition of Money-order and Postal Correspondence for T. Just, Hobart.
THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the person whose name and address are shown in the Schedule hereunder is engaged in promoting or carrying out a lottery or scheme of chance, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said person shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said person (either by his own or any fictitious or assumed name) or addressed to the address in the Schedule hereunder without a name, shall be either registered or forwarded by the Post Office of New Zealand.

THE Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand having reasonable ground for supposing that the company and persons whose names and addresses are shown in the Schedule hereunder are engaged in a fraudulent business, it is hereby ordered, under section 28 of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, that no money-order in favour of the said company or any of the said persons shall be issued, and that no postal packet addressed to the said company or to the manager, secretary, or other officer thereof, or addressed to any of the said persons (either by his or her own or by any fictitious or assumed name), or addressed to the said address without a name, shall be registered, forwarded, or delivered by the Post Office of New Zealand.

I, WILLIAM DONALD STUART MACDONALD, Acting Postmaster-General of New Zealand, do hereby, in pursuance of clause 2 of the War Regulations of the 17th day of December, 1914, order that no postal packet or telegram addressed to or intended for the firm or company named in the Schedule hereto shall be forwarded or delivered by the Post Office or transmitted by telegram.
