Notifying Land in the Canterbury Land District subject to the Land for Settlements Act, 1908.
Office of Board of Land Purchase Commissioners,
Wellington, 6th March, 1917.
PURSUANT to the provisions of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, and its amendments, I hereby notify that the undermentioned Crown land, being the land known as Burke’s Homestead Settlement, which has been acquired under the said Acts, is subject to the said Acts as from 20th July, 1916.
SCHEDULE.
BURKE’S HOMESTEAD SETTLEMENT.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District, containing by admeasurement 60 acres 2 roods 6 perches, more or less, and being Sections 35668, 35721, 35749, and parts Sections 13695 and 27592, Blocks IV and VIII, Burke Survey District, commencing at the south-west corner of Section 13695 aforesaid, and bounded as follows: Towards the west generally by Section 26024, 4052·7 links, and by Run 244, 2016·7 links, 500 links, and 500 links; towards the north-east by Section 28610, 4011 links; towards the south-east by Burke’s Pass Road, 216 links and 34·5 links; towards the south-west and again towards the south-east by other part of Section 27592, 1000 links and 250 links respectively; again towards the south-west by a public road, 1236·7 links; again towards the south-east by a public road and Reserve 1595, 2336·5 links; again towards the south-west by Reserve 1264A, 52 links; again towards the north-east by Reserves 1264A, 2412, and 1851, 2399·4 links; again on the south-east and again on the north-east by other part of Section 13695, 150 links and 500 links respectively; and again on the south-east by Burke’s Pass Road, 350 links, to the point of commencement: excluding from the above-described area a public road, one chain in width, intersecting the same: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 8/8/3, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

Vesting certain Enemy Property in the Public Trustee as Custodian of Enemy Property.
WHEREAS by clause 1 of regulations under the War Regulations Act, 1914, and its amendments, made on the 21st day of December, 1916, and published in the Gazette of the same date, it is provided that where any property is enemy property within the meaning of section 3 of the War Regulations Amendment Act, 1916, by reason of the fact that any interest in that property (whether such interest is that of ownership or any lesser interest) belongs or at any time since the commencement of the present war with Germany has belonged to any person or company of enemy nationality, descent, origin, residence, connections, or associations (other than a person resident in New Zealand or a company incorporated in New Zealand), the Attorney-General may, by order signed and gazetted by him, order and declare that such interest shall be vested in the Public Trustee as the Custodian of Enemy Property:
And whereas the land described in the Schedule hereto is enemy property as aforesaid, belonging to one William Hammerich, formerly of Greytown, New Zealand, Hotelkeeper, and now believed to be resident in Germany:
And whereas it is advisable that the interest of the said William Hammerich in the said property should be vested in the Public Trustee as the Custodian of Enemy Property:
Now, therefore, I, Alexander Lawrence Herdman, His Majesty’s Attorney-General for New Zealand, in pursuance of the authority conferred on me as aforesaid, do hereby order and declare that the interest of the said William Hammerich shall, as from the date of the publication of this order in the Gazette, be vested in the Public Trustee as the Custodian of Enemy Property.
SCHEDULE.
ALL that piece or parcel of land in the Township of Gladstone, in the Province of Wellington, being part of the section numbered 19 on the plan of the Tupurupuru Block, and being the town section numbered 67 on the plan of the subdivision of parts of Sections 12, 14, and 19 on the plan of the said Tupurupuru Block, deposited by the vendor in the office of the Registrar of Deeds at Wellington and numbered 30, which piece of land contains by admeasurement 1 acre, more or less, and is all the land comprised in Conveyance No. 21198, recorded in Vol. 34, folio 213, Wellington Deeds Registry.

Authorizing the Laying-off of New Street, in the Town of Pukerua Extension No. 1, of a Width of not less than 66 ft.

IN pursuance of the power and authority conferred upon me by section 15 of the Land Act, 1908, I hereby authorize the laying-off of New Street, in the Town of Pukerua Extension No. 1, Wellington Land District, of a width of not less than 66 ft. instead of 99 ft.

Notice of the Taking and Laying-off of a Road in Blocks VII, VIII, and XII, Maungaharuru Survey District.
NOTICE is hereby given, by direction of His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, under the authority of section 93 of the Public Works Act, 1908, that the road described in the Schedule hereto was taken and laid off through the land specified in the said Schedule, under the authority of the Governor of the said Dominion, by Warrant dated the 13th day of January, 1906.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road taken and laid off: 53 acres 0 roods 6 perches.
Portion of Tutira Block, in Blocks VII, VIII, and XII, Maungaharuru Survey District (Hawke’s Bay R.D.).
In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the said road is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 41732, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured red.
