Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the Staff, Permanent Staff, and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Staff, Permanent Staff, and Territorial Force:—

STAFF.

Major Daniel James Sweetzer, Special Reserve, Imperial Army (Retired List), is employed with the New Zealand Military Forces, with pay of rank, and is appointed Infantry Instructor in Expeditionary Force Training-camps for the period of the war, with effect from 27th January, 1916.

PERMANENT STAFF.

Temp. Lieutenant Alfred Cheater is granted the rank of Honorary Captain (temp.) whilst employed as Assistant Infantry Instructor at Trentham Camp. Dated 1st January, 1917.

Quartermaster-Sergeant (W.O.) Livingstone Forsythe McNair is granted the rank of Honorary Lieutenant (temp.) during the period of the war, and is attached to the New Zealand Staff Corps. Dated 20th February, 1917.

Sergeant-major (W.O.) Albert George Barlow is granted the rank of Honorary Lieutenant (temp.) whilst acting as Ship’s Quartermaster, H.M.N.Z. Transport “Navua,” vice Captain E. E. Willoughby, who relinquishes the appointment. Dated 15th February, 1917.

10TH (NELSON) MOUNTED RIFLES.

2nd Lieutenant Leslie Lawrence Cook is transferred to the Reserve of Officers. Dated 19th February, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND FIELD ARTILLERY.

Major Gilbert James Beattie is appointed temporary Instructor for Field Artillery Territorial Training-camps. Dated 10th February, 1917.

Captain William Henry Jones (F Battery) to be Major, under the provisions of paragraph 111, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 14th February, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND GARRISON ARTILLERY.

Lieutenant (temp. Captain) Maurice Edward Denniston relinquishes the appointment of Adjutant and Quartermaster on Hospital Ship “Maheno,” and returns to duty with the original rank of Lieutenant. Dated 22nd July, 1916.

Lieutenant Maurice Edward Denniston is attached for duty to the New Zealand Dental Corps, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst acting as Deputy Assistant Director of Dental Services, Wellington Military District. Dated 30th January, 1917.

CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.

New Zealand Post and Telegraph Corps.

The appointment of Lieutenant (on probation) Manson Waterson Chant lapses. Dated 8th February, 1917.

No. 4 Field Company.

Lieutenant Arthur William Larsen is appointed Assistant Director of Works (Engineering), and is attached. Dated 17th February, 1917.

9TH (HAWKE’S BAY) REGIMENT.

Lieutenant Vincent Herbert Trask is transferred to the 11th Regiment (Taranaki Rifles). Dated 13th February, 1917.

Sidney Razell Wood to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), vice Lieutenant Hastings on active service. Dated 17th February, 1917.
