On page 291 of New Zealand Nautical Almanac for 1917, fourteenth line from the bottom, should read “The flag H,” in lieu of “The flag 4.”

On page 403, ninth line from the bottom, Auckland Harbour, Magnetic Declination, should read 15° 13′ E., in lieu of 14° 13′ E.

Notice to Mariners.—No. 2 of 1917.

WANGANUI HARBOUR LIGHT.—CHANGE IN CHARACTER.

Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 3rd January, 1917.

The Wanganui Harbour Board have notified that on and after Thursday, 25th January, the fixed white light which is exhibited from the flagstaff on North Head will be changed to a white flashing Aga acetone acetylene light of 300 c.p., flash 0·6 second, followed by an eclipse of 5·4 seconds. Height of light, 65 ft., and it should be visible in clear weather for a distance of about ten miles.

Charts, &c., affected.—Admiralty Charts Nos. 1212 and 2054; New Zealand Pilot, eighth edition, 1908, Chapter v, page 156; New Zealand Nautical Almanac, 1917, pages 241 and 292, and plan facing page 242.

bourne; and the Minister of State for Communications, Tokyo, are published for general information.

AUSTRALIA.

VICTORIA.—ALTERATION TO LIGHT, BREAKWATER PIER, WARRNAMBOOL.

Referring to General Notice to Mariners dated 1st August, 1907, page 52, mariners and others are hereby notified that on or about 15th December, 1916, the present fixed red light on the end of the Breakwater will be replaced by a single-flashing light exhibited from a post. This light will show green to seaward and red in line with the Breakwater when the light will bear W.S.W. as at present.

EAST COAST.—INNER BARRIER ROUTE.—AR (R) AND PEA (P) REEFS.—BEACONS RE-ESTABLISHED.

Mariners and others are hereby notified that the beacons on Ar (r) and Pea (p) Reefs, which were recently destroyed, are now re-established.

(a.) Position.—On the northern side of Ar (r) Reef. Lat. 14° 32½′ south, long. 144° 55′ east. Description.—A red triangular beacon.

(b.) Position.—On the eastern end of Pea (p) Reef. Lat. 13° 32¾′ south, long. 143° 39¼′ east. Description.—As in (a).

Charts affected.—(a.) Admiralty Chart No. 3088, Howick Island anchorages; Admiralty Chart No. 2922, Turtle Group to Claremont Point; Admiralty Chart No. 2764, Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reefs (sheet 2). (b.) Admiralty Chart No. 3762, Hay Island to Bow Reef; Admiralty Chart No. 2921, Claremont Point to Cape Direction; Admiralty Chart No. 2764, Coral Sea and Great Barrier Reefs (sheet 2).
