NOTICE OF FINAL MEETING OF COMPANY PRIOR TO DISSOLUTION.

H. OSCAR HEWETT & CO. (LTD.), IN LIQUIDATION.

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of section 230 of the Companies Act, 1908, a general meeting of H. Oscar Hewett & Co. (Ltd.), in Liquidation, will be held at the company’s registered office, 56 Cuba Street, Wellington, on Monday, the twelfth day of March, 1917, at five o’clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having laid before the meeting the account of the Liquidator showing the manner in which the winding-up had been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing the explanation thereof given by the Liquidator.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 230 of the Companies Act, 1908, that a general meeting of the members of the above-named company will be held at the office of Messrs. William Brown & Co., Queen’s Rooms, Crawford Street, Dunedin, on Thursday, the fifteenth day of March, 1917, at 3.30 o’clock in the afternoon, for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property of the company disposed of, and of hearing any explanation that may be given by the Liquidator; and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company, and of the Liquidator thereof, shall be disposed of.

WAIMEA COUNTY COUNCIL.

MOUTERE INLET ROAD.—RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Waimea County Council hereby resolves as follows:—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of five hundred pounds (£500), authorized to be raised by the Waimea County Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for metalling the Moutere Inlet Road, the said Waimea County Council hereby makes and levies a a special rate of (5/16th) five-sixteenths of one penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Special-rating Area No. 6, Moutere Inlet, comprising all that land in the following boundaries,—

Starting on the sea-beach at a point in line with the north-west boundary of Section 206, Block VIII, Motueka S.D.; thence across a public road to the northern corner of the said Section 206; thence along the north-western and south-western boundaries of the said Section 206 to the north-west boundary of Section 207; thence in a south-westerly direction to the westernmost point of the said Section 207; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-west boundaries of Sections 207 and 208, Block VIII, Motueka S.D., to the south corner of Section 208; thence in a north-easterly direction along the south-eastern boundary of Section 208 to the west corner of Section 209; thence in a south-easterly direction along the south-west boundaries of Sections, 209, 210, 211, 212, 213, and 214 to the west corner of Section 103, all of Block VIII, Motueka S.D.; thence in a south-westerly direction along the north-west boundary of Lot 1, Section 98A, Block XII, Motueka S.D., to its westernmost point; thence along the south-western boundary of the said Lot 1

of Section 98A and of Lot 2 of the same section; thence along the north-west and south-west boundaries of the said Lot 2 of 98A to the south corner of the said Lot 2; thence across a public road, and in a north-easterly direction along the south-east side of the said public road to the west corner of Section 58, Block XII, Motueka S.D.; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundary of the said Section 58 to the western side of a public road; thence generally in a southerly direction along the west side of the said public road to a point in line with the southern boundary of Lot part 50, Tasman; thence in an easterly direction across the said public road to the south-west corner of the said Lot part 50; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundaries of Lots 50, 52, and 53, Tasman, to the south-east corner of Lot 53; thence generally in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of Lot 53 to the eastern corner of the said Lot 53; thence in a north-westerly direction across a public road; thence in a north-westerly direction along the north-west side of the said public road to the eastern corner of Lot 8, Tasman; thence in a north-westerly direction by the north-east side of Lot 8 to the northern corner thereof; thence in a northerly direction along the eastern boundary of Section part 88, Block XII, Motueka S.D., to the south corner of Section part 12, Block I, Moutere S.D.; thence in an easterly direction along the southern boundaries of said part Section 12 and of Lots 133, 134, and 135, Tasman, to the sea; thence by the sea to the starting-point: as the same is shown on the plan of the said special-rating district deposited in the Waimea County Council Office, Nelson, and outlined in red thereon.

And that such special rate shall be annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and payable yearly on the first day of October in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

I hereby certify the foregoing to be a true copy of a resolution passed by the Waimea County Council at a meeting held on the 11th day of January, 1917.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Wellington Racing Club at a meeting held on the 29th day of September, 1916, at Wellington, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. John Bateman Harcourt, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. J. B. Harcourt, the Chairman of Club and the meeting, moved, and Mr. Charles W. Tringham seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:—

WELLINGTON RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

In pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Wellington Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of land situate in the District of Wellington, and known as the Trentham Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:—

(a.) Bookmakers, or any clerk or agent or reputed clerk or agent employed by any bookmaker.

(b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated with the Racing Conference of New Zealand.

(c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with reputed thieves or reputed prostitutes, or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support, within the meaning of the Police Offences Act, 1908, or any Act amending the same.
