under the authority of a license issued by the Governor in
Council under that Act :
And whereas the Wanganui Brewery Company (Limited)
(hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”) desires to erect
electric lines along the route defined in the Schedule hereto,
and hereinafter called “the said electric lines,” and it is
expedient accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof
under the said section :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excel-
lency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting
by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council
of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth
in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made under
section two of the aforesaid Act and published in the New
Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one
thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter referred
to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee to
erect and maintain the said electric lines for lighting, power,
and heating purposes.

SCHEDULE.
- THE ROUTE OF THE ELECTRIC LINES AUTHORIZED.
THAT route in the Township of Castlecliff, Waitotara County,
Wellington Land District, commencing at the power-house
on the property of the Wanganui Meat Freezing Company
(Limited) at the corner of Tod and Bryce Streets, Castlecliff,
and proceeding in a north-easterly direction generally across
the said property and Bryce and Thatcher Streets, and Sec-
tions 83 and 85, Township of Castlecliff, to the Castlecliff
Hotel on the said Section 85. As the said route is more par-
ticularly delineated by a red line on the plan marked P.W.D.
41578, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works,
Wellington, in the Provincial District of Wellington.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (a)
(1) of clause 2 of the regulations.
The generating voltage shall be approximately 100 to 120
volts between the terminals.
- DATUM TEMPERATURE.
For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in
clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be
taken as 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
- NOTICES re EXTENSIONS, ETC.
Records of results of tests (Regulation 37), and notices re
commencement of work (Regulation 44) and re extensions
and alterations (Regulation 49), should be sent to the Under-
Secretary, Public Works Department, Wellington, and to the
Telegraph Engineer of the district, or his deputy, at present
stationed at Wanganui.
- CHARGES FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY.
The charge for electrical energy shall not exceed 10d.
per unit for lighting purposes, and 5d. per unit for motor-
power, heating, or cooking purposes; provided that “lighting
purposes” shall include the operation of motor generators
for lighting purposes.
- DURATION OF LICENSE.
This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance
with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force
for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon
the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination
of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby
granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine;
but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the
licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.
- REQUIREMENTS OF CASTLECLIFF TOWN BOARD.
Notwithstanding anything hereinbefore contained, the
licensee shall not be entitled to erect, maintain, or use any
electric lines within the Castlecliff Town District except
subject to such conditions, not inconsistent with the pro-
visions of this license and the regulations relating thereto,
as may from time to time be agreed upon between the licensee
and the Castlecliff Town Board.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this twenty-sixth
day of February, 1917.
Present :
THE HONOURABLE SIR JAMES ALLEN, K.C.B., PRESIDING
IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by an Order in Council dated the fourth
day of November, one thousand nine hundred and
twelve, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the
seventh day of the same month, the Wairoa Borough Council
(hereinafter called “the licensee”) was authorized to erect
electric lines along certain routes in the Borough of Wairoa :
And whereas the licensee proposes to erect further electric
lines within the said borough, and to change the present
direct-current system to the alternating system, and it is
expedient that effect should be given thereto :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred upon him by section two of the Public Works
Amendment Act, 1911, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby revoke the Order in Council herein-
before referred to, and doth, subject to the conditions set
forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made
under section two of the aforesaid Act and published in the
New Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April,
one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter
referred to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the
licensee to erect and maintain electric lines for lighting,
power, and heating purposes within the area of supply herein-
after described.

SCHEDULE.
- AREA OF SUPPLY.
THE area of supply comprises the Borough of Wairoa and
portion of the Wairoa County as indicated by a broken
white line on the plan marked P.W.D. 39796, deposited in
the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in
the Wellington Provincial District.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (e)
of clause 2 of the regulations.
Electrical energy, at a pressure not exceeding 22,000 volts
between phases, shall be received at the Council’s sub-station
at the borough boundary and there transformed down for
distribution on the three-phase four-wire system as described
in paragraph (c) of the regulations.
- DATUM TEMPERATURE.
For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in
clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be
taken as 32 degrees Fahrenheit.
- NOTICES re EXTENSIONS, ETC.
Records of results of tests (Regulation 37), and notices re
commencement of work (Regulation 44) and re extensions
and alterations (Regulation 49), should be sent to the Public
Works Engineer at present stationed at Gisborne, and to the Telegraph Engineer of the district, or his deputy, at
