ARGENTINA.

PLATA RIVER.—BUENOS AIRES APPROACH.

Buoys established.

The following buoys have been established in the approach to Buenos Aires:—
A green buoy, in (approximately) latitude 34° 38′ S., longitude 58° 20′ 17″ W., to mark a shoal near Kilometer 1 buoy, South Channel.
A green buoy, in (approximately) latitude 34° 27′ 17″ S., longitude 57° 55′ 52″ W., on the north-western side of Beaumanoir Rock.
A barrel painted green, in (approximately) latitude 34° 27′ 27″ S., longitude 57° 55′ 18″ W., to mark rock 113B.
A green buoy, in (approximately) latitude 34° 25′ 22″ S., longitude 57° 57′ 23″ W., to mark Diamante Rock.

Change in Characteristics of Lights.

To conform to the new system, all lights on beacons and buoys on the port side of the channel entering the harbour of Buenos Aires show white and those on the starboard side red. The beacons show flashing lights and the buoys fixed lights, except starboard and port buoys 1A (also known as Kilometer 37 buoys), which show flashing lights.

Wrecks.—Light-buoys established.

The Argentine Government reports the following wrecks in the approach to the harbour of Buenos Aires:—
The wreck of the “Gemma,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 34′ 50″ S., longitude 58° 9′ 45″ W.
The wreck of the “Los Andes,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 35′ 10″ S., longitude 58° 18′ 35″ W.
The wreck of the “Velocidad,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 36′ 10″ S., longitude 58° 19′ 37″ W.
The wreck of the “Gabarra,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 47′ 30″ S., longitude 57° 52′ 23″ W.
The wreck of the “Lesbury,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 28′ 35″ S., longitude 57° 56′ 12″ W.
The wreck of the “Wilson,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 10′ 57″ S., longitude 58° 12′ 5″ W.
The wreck of the “Sofia,” in (approximately) latitude 34° 27′ 20″ S., longitude 58° 9′ 52″ W.
The wrecks are each marked by a light-buoy exhibiting a flashing green light.

MARTIN GARCIA CHANNEL.—CHANGE IN CHARACTERISTICS OF LIGHTS ON BUOYS.

To conform to the new system, the following changes have been made in the characteristics of the aids of Martin Garcia Channel:—
All port-hand buoys on entering show fixed white lights and all starboard-hand buoys fixed red lights, except the ones in the following approximate positions: Latitude 34° 26′ 23″ S., longitude 57° 56′ 16″ W., and latitude 34° 25′ 27″ S., longitude 57° 57′ 15″ W. These two exhibit flashing white lights to avoid confusion with the lights in Colonia Harbour.

RIO DE LA PLATA.—MARTIN GARCIA LIGHT.—ALTERATION IN CHARACTER.

Position.—Lat. 34° 11¼′ S., long. 58° 15′ W.
New Abridged Description.—Lt. fl. ev. 15 secs., 130 ft., vis. 12 m.
Alteration.—The character of the light has been altered from fixed white to flashing white every fifteen seconds—thus, flash 5 secs., eclipse 10 secs.
Charts affected.—No. 1751, Rio de la Plata; No. 3561, Entrance to the Rivers Parana and Uruguay; No. 2544, Rio de la Plata.
