Date of Election to fill Extraordinary Vacancy in the Oamaru Fire Board by Insurance Companies.

PURSUANT to the Fire Brigades Act, 1908, and the rules made thereunder, I, George Warren Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs, being the Minister charged with the administration of the said Act, do hereby appoint Friday, the 28th December, 1917, to be the day for holding the election of one member to the Oamaru Fire Board by the insurance companies concerned, such election being held to fill an extraordinary vacancy caused by the resignation of J. S. Hislop.

THE following special orders made by the Cook County Council are published in accordance with the provisions of the Counties Amendment Act, 1913.

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

A special order made by the Cook County Council on Friday, 19th October, 1917, and confirmed at a subsequent meeting held on Wednesday, 28th November, 1917:—

Resolved, That, in answer to the prayer of a majority of the ratepayers in the Road District of Taruheru, this Council hereby declares that the Road Board of that district shall be dissolved, and that the Taruheru Road District shall be merged in the County of Cook.

This special order to come into force on the 1st day of January, 1918.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the presence of—

COOK COUNTY COUNCIL.

Resolved, That, in answer to the prayer of a majority of the ratepayers in the Road District of Titirangi possessing more than one-half of the rateable property therein, this Council hereby declares that the Road Board of that district shall be dissolved, and that the Titirangi Road District shall be merged in the County of Cook.

This special order to come into force on the 1st day of January, 1918.

The common seal of the Chairman, Councillors, and Inhabitants of the County of Cook was hereto affixed in the presence of—

Halifax Relief Fund declared to be a War Fund.


Office of the Minister of Internal Affairs,
Wellington, 17th December, 1917.

PURSUANT to section 2 of the War Funds Act, 1915, I, George Warren Russell, Minister of Internal Affairs of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby notify that I have declared funds established for the relief of sufferers by the recent disaster at Halifax, Nova Scotia, to be war funds within the meaning of the said War Funds Act, 1915.

Cancelling the Forfeiture of James Colvin’s License over Section 17, Block II, Steeples Survey District, Nelson Land District.


Lands and Survey Department,
Wellington, 18th December, 1917.

WHEREAS the Land Board of the Nelson Land District, by resolution of the 14th day of November, 1914, forfeited the interest of James Colvin in a license registered as Vol. 35, folio 58, Nelson Land Registry Office, over Section 17, Block II, Steeples Survey District, in the said land district, for non-compliance with the conditions of the license:

And whereas by section 68 of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1917, the Minister of Lands was empowered, by notice in the Gazette, to cancel the said forfeiture:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Lands, do hereby cancel the forfeiture of the license of the said James Colvin over the said land, and notify that the forfeiture of such license shall be deemed to be wholly waived and abandoned; and the said license, and all mortgages and encumbrances (if any) affecting the same, shall take effect and shall be deemed to have continued to have effect as if no forfeiture had occurred or been declared.
