  1. The Commissioner of Crown Lands shall be the Chairman of the Board, and may join in the discussion, and shall have an original as well as a casting vote.

  2. The Board shall prepare and submit at an annual meeting to be held in the month of April in each year a report of the proceedings of the Board for the previous year ending on the thirty-first day of March, together with a statement of the receipts and expenditure of the Board for such year. A copy of every such report and statement, certified by the Chairman to be correct, shall be sent to the Minister in Charge of Scenery Preservation as soon as possible after each annual meeting.

  3. If at any meeting the Chairman is not present at the time appointed for holding the same, the members present shall choose one of their number to be chairman of such meeting.

  4. If, by resignation, death, incapacity, or otherwise, the seat of any member shall be or become vacant, or if any member absents himself, without reasonable cause, from three consecutive meetings of the Board, the Governor-General shall have power to appoint any other person to be a member of the Board in his stead.

  5. All questions shall be determined by the majority of votes of the members of the Board present at a meeting.

  6. The Board shall control the said reserve in accordance with the provisions of the said Act and of the regulations made thereunder.

Cancelling the Reservation over Portion of a Primary-education Endowment in the Westland Land District, and setting apart Crown Land in lieu thereof.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

WHEREAS the land described in Part I of the Schedule hereto forms portion of a primary-education endowment vested in the Crown pursuant to the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910:

And whereas the Governor-General deems it expedient in the public interest that the reservation over the said land should be cancelled, and the parcels of ordinary Crown land of equal value described in Part II of the said Schedule reserved in lieu thereof:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by section thirty-seven of the Land Laws Amendment Act, 1914, do hereby cancel the reservation over the portion of the primary-education endowment described in Part I of the Schedule hereto, and in lieu thereof do hereby reserve the parcels of ordinary Crown land of equal value described in Part II of the said Schedule

SCHEDULE

PART I.

ALL that area in the Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 3 roods, more or less, and being portion of Education Endowment Reserve 127, Block II, Toaroha Survey District, bounded as follows: Commencing at the most westerly corner of said Reserve 127, bounded towards the north-west by a road, 383·9 links; towards the north-east and south-east by said Reserve 127, 195·4 links and 383·9 links respectively; and towards the south-west by Max Road, 195·4 links: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less. As the same is delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 20/44A, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

PART II.

All that area in Block II, Toaroha Survey District, Westland Land District, containing by admeasurement 2 roods, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the north-east side of Max Road 2094·9 links south-east of the most westerly corner of Education Endowment Reserve 127; towards the north-west, north-east, and south-east by Education Endowment Reserve 127, 250, 200, and 250 links respectively, being a rectangular block with a frontage of 200 links to Max Road: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

Also all that area in Block II, Toaroha Survey District, Westland Land District, containing 2 roods, more or less, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the north-east side of Max Road 3995 links south-east of the most westerly corner of Education Endowment Reserve 127; towards the north-west, north-east, and south-east by Education Endowment Reserve 127, 250, 200, and 250 links respectively, being a rectangular block with a frontage of 200 links to Max Road: be all the aforesaid linkages more or less.

As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan marked L. and S. 20/44B, deposited in the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon coloured red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor-General, this twenty-second day of November, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.

Defining Limits of Whakatane Harbour.

LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority in me vested by the sixth section of the Harbours Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, G.C.M.G., M.V.O., the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the existing limits of the Harbour of Whakatane, and do hereby define the limits of the said harbour to be, —

All that area in the Bay of Plenty commencing at a point on the sea-coast at ordinary high-water mark of the Bay of Plenty, three nautical miles to the westward of the entrance to the Whakatane River; thence to the westernmost point of Whale Island; thence by ordinary high-water mark along the southern coastline of the said island to its easternmost point; thence along the tangent to an arc of a circle described with a radius of three nautical miles, the centre of which is at the middle of the entrance to the said river; thence by the said arc to a point on the sea-coast at ordinary high-water mark of the Bay of Plenty three nautical miles to the south and east of the entrance to the said river; thence north and westerly by ordinary high-water mark of the Bay of Plenty along the sea-coast to the right bank of the said river; thence by ordinary high-water mark of the said river to the outer face of the downstream side of the reinforced-concrete bridge over the said river (on the main road between Whakatane and Te Teko); thence by the said bridge to the left bank of the said river; thence along the left bank by
