Shows, and Egg-laying Competitions; ploughs for use at Prize Ploughing Matches; entire horses consigned for exhibition at Horse Parades; and collie dogs competing at Dog Trials—will be charged full Tariff rates going to the Show, Ploughing Match, Parade, or Dog Trial; such rates must be prepaid.

Returning from the Show all exhibits that have been unsold, whether forming the whole or only a portion of the original consignment, will, if returned within one month from the closing of the Show, be conveyed back to the original consignor and to the original forwarding station free, but at owner’s risk.

For all exhibits which may have been sold, ordinary rates will be charged, irrespective of the points between which they are carried.

Full ordinary rates will be charged for all vehicles used on the homeward journey in excess of the number of vehicles used for conveyance of the exhibits on the outward journey.

All loading, unloading, collection, and delivery to be performed by the owners at their own risk and expense.

Food-troughs, buckets, &c., poultry pens and coops for use at Shows, Egg-laying Competitions, &c., will be conveyed under this regulation.

Loading and unloading to be performed by owners, and when carried free the Railway Department to be relieved of all responsibility for loss or damage.

(26.) PARCELS FOR DISTRIBUTION AT DESTINATION. (Page 63.)

Cancel “The minimum charge will be as for 2 cwt. at small-lots rates.”

Insert “Double the usual charge will be made; minimum charge, as for 5 cwt.”

(31.) TRUCKS FOR CONVEYANCE OF MAILS. (Page 63.)

Cancel regulation, and insert—

A charge of 9d. per mile will be made for each truck used for conveyance of mails by mail and express trains. Charges to be computed on actual distance trucks are used for the mails. No charge to be made when truck is forwarded by ordinary mixed or goods trains.

Where an extra engine has to be employed on mail and express trains in consequence of the attaching of additional mail trucks or vans, a charge of 2s. per mile will in all cases be made for the actual distance the engine is run.

(33.) HAULAGE AND HANDLING CHARGES. (Page 64.)

Cancel regulation.

Insert—

The following charges will be made at each station where haulage and handling services are performed, viz.:—

Goods hauled between private stores, Government sheds, public sidings, and ships will be charged 1s. per ton, and (with the exception of grain for which a charge of 9d. per ton for each handling will be made) an additional charge of 1s. per ton will be made for each handling performed by the Department; minimum charge, 1s.

In addition to the above a charge of 1s. 6d. per ton will be made on transhipment goods handled in Government sheds and redelivered to ships, this charge to include one week’s storage.

Haulage of timber between private stores, Government sheds, public sidings, and ships, including handling at ship’s side, will be as follows:—

Timber, except imported, 8d. per 100 superficial feet.

Timber, imported, 1s. per 100 superficial feet; minimum charge, 1s.

Haulage of ship’s ballast from ship’s side and tipping to spoil will be charged 2s. per ton; minimum charge, 30s.

Charges to be computed by weight or measurement at the option of the Department.

Wool, 5 bales not exceeding 4 cwt. each to the ton.

(47.) SORTING GOODS.

Insert—

Goods which require to be sorted by the Railway before delivery or before going forward to destination will be subject to a sorting charge of 1s. 6d. per ton.

WHANGAREI-KAWAKAWA SECTION.

Class K.—Timber. (Page 69.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber, with the exception of charges for unloading and storage.

KAIHU SECTION.

Class K. (Page 70.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber, with the exception of charges for unloading and storage.

GISBORNE SECTION. (Page 70.)

Cancel “White-pine from Te Karaka to Gisborne will be charged 1s. per 100 superficial feet.”

NORTH ISLAND MAIN LINE AND BRANCHES.

Class K. (Pages 75-77.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber, and the charge for skidding logs at Auckland.

WESTLAND DISTRICT.

Class K. (Pages 79 and 80.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber, with the exception of local haulage rates at Hokitika and Greymouth.

WESTPORT SECTION.

Class K. (Page 81.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber, with the exception of special charge for Cape Foulwind line.

NELSON SECTION.

Class K. (Page 82.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber.

SOUTH ISLAND MAIN LINE AND BRANCHES.

A, B, C, D GOODS, CHRISTCHURCH TO TIMARU. (Page 83.)

Cancel “will be charged at the rate of 18s. per ton,” and insert “will be charged Class D.”

CLASS K. (Pages 85 and 86.)

Cancel all local rates for the conveyance of timber.

GOODS FOR TRANSHIPMENT AT LYTTTELTON. (Page 88.)

Cancel regulation, and insert—

Where goods are landed ex ship and taken into shed for redelivery, they will be charged the rates provided for in Regulation 33, Part III of tariff. If examined by the Customs, 1s. per ton in addition will be charged where extra removal of the goods from the examination-shed is entailed. If left on the railway premises more than one week, storage at the rate of 6d. per ton per week or fraction of a week will be charged.

FROZEN MEAT, FAIRFIELD TO BELFAST. (Page 88.)

Cancel—

Frozen meat, Fairfield to Belfast, will be charged 15s. per ton; minimum quantity, 20 tons.

DUNEDIN OR PORT CHALMERS AND OAMARU. (Page 89.)

Cancel—

Except in case of frozen meat, which will be charged the classified rate for Class D, goods of Classes A, B, C, and D between Dunedin or Port Chalmers and Oamaru will be charged 12s. 6d. per ton.

Insert—

Goods of Classes A, B, and C from Dunedin or Port Chalmers to Oamaru, north journey only, will be charged Class D.

Cancel—

FROZEN MEAT, PUKEURI JUNCTION TO PORT CHALMERS OR DUNEDIN. (Page 89.)

Frozen meat from Pukeuri Junction to Port Chalmers or Dunedin will be charged 20s. per ton.
