make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in the Marlborough Acclimatization District, comprising the Counties of Marlborough and Sounds, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.

REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags and fallow-deer bucks may be taken or killed within the Marlborough Acclimatization District from the 27th day of February, 1917, to the 30th day of April, 1917 (both days inclusive).

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Blenheim, and the Postmaster at Havelock, on payment of a license fee of £1, in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations; provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than six red-deer stags or fallow-deer bucks, and no red-deer stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than eight points.

  4. No doe, hind, or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  5. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  6. Regulations as to deer “tags,” per New Zealand Gazette No. 40, Vol. I, of 20th May, 1909, page 1408, shall be strictly adhered to by each licensee, who, in addition thereto, shall return all unused “tags” to the secretary of the Marlborough Acclimatization Society, Blenheim, immediately he has finished stalking for the season for which such “tags” have been issued, together with a statement of the number of deer shot.

  7. Any person committing a breach of any of these regulations shall be liable, on conviction, to a fine not exceeding £20.

Regulations for Deer-shooting, Nelson.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”). I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby make the following regulations prescribing the deer-shooting season in the Nelson Acclimatization District, comprising the Counties of Waimea, Takaka, and Collingwood, and the conditions affecting the same, and also the form of license and the fee payable therefor.

REGULATIONS.

  1. RED-DEER stags and fallow-deer bucks may be taken or killed within the Nelson Acclimatization District from the 1st day of March, 1917, to the 30th day of April, 1917, both days inclusive.

  2. Licenses to take or kill such deer may be issued by the Chief Postmaster at Nelson, and the Postmaster at Motueka, on payment of a license fee of £1 1s., in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, and subject to the said Act and these regulations; provided that not more than one such license shall be issued to the same person.

  3. No licensee shall take or kill more than six deer in all, whether red-deer stags or fallow-deer bucks; and no red-deer stag shall be killed carrying antlers with less than four points, and no fallow-deer buck carrying antlers with less than four points.

  4. No doe, hind, or fawn shall be taken or killed on any pretext whatever; and no licensee shall allow any dog to accompany either himself or any attendant he may have with him.

  5. Nothing herein contained shall extend to authorizing any person to sell any deer or portion thereof.

  6. Opening Education Reserves in Southland Land District for Selection on Renewable Lease.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, and the Education Reserves Amendment Act, 1910, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the education reserves described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease for the term of thirty-three years, with right of renewal for successive periods of thirty-three years, on Monday, the nineteenth day of March, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said reserves shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Acts.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SOUTHLAND COUNTY.—MATAURA HUNDRED.

Education Reserves.—First-class Land.

Lot 2 of 57, Block I: Area, 45 acres 3 roods 33 perches; capital value, £1,150; half-yearly rent, £23.

Weighted with £58 4s., valuation for fencing and half cost of water-trough.

Lot 4 of 57, Block I: Area, 50 acres 1 rood 30 perches; capital value, £1,010; half-yearly rent, £20 4s.

Weighted with £41 8s., valuation for fencing.

The sections are from 120 ft. to 130 ft. above sea-level. First-class dairying land, open, undulating, and in grass. Water on Lot 2 by trough, and on Lot 4 by small creek springs. Situated about four miles from Edendale by good metalled road and within half a mile from dairy factory and school.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.
