north-western boundary of that section and the north-western boundaries of Sections 12 and 13 to a public road, along the northern side of that road north-westward and continued to and along the north-eastern boundary of the block of about 1,850 acres hereinbefore described to its northernmost corner; and thence north-eastward along a right line being the continuation of the north-western boundary of the said block hereinbefore described to the place of commencement.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS it has been found desirable for the use, convenience, and enjoyment of the Hurunui-Waitaki Railway to take further land at Addington, in addition to land previously acquired for the purposes of the said railway:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by sections twenty-nine and one hundred and eighty-eight of the Public Works Act, 1908, and of every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the land described in the Schedule hereto is hereby taken for the purposes above mentioned.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by paragraph (c) of section one hundred and thirty-three of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor may, by Proclamation publicly notified, stop or alter the course of any Government road or any part thereof:
And whereas the Government road described in the Schedule hereto is no longer required for the purpose of a road:
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise enabling me in this behalf, do hereby proclaim as stopped the road described in the Schedule hereto.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road hereby stopped: 1 rood 2 perches.
Adjoining or passing through Sections 2 and 6, Block XII, Kawhia North Survey District (S.O. 17926).
In the Auckland Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 41328, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured green.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government Buildings at Wellington, this sixteenth day of January, 1917.

THE HONOURABLE JAMES ALLEN PRESIDING IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS by subsection one of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is, inter alia, provided that the said section shall not apply in any case where the local authority having control of any road or street by resolution declares that the provisions thereof shall not apply to any specified road or street, or any specified part thereof, and such resolution is approved by the Governor in Council:
And whereas by subsection two of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is provided that such approval may be either absolute or subject to such conditions with respect to the building-line as the Governor, by Order in Council, thinks fit to impose:
And whereas the Christchurch City Council, being the local authority having control of the street described in the Schedule hereto, has passed the following resolution—viz., “That the Christchurch City Council, being the local authority having control of Belfast Street, Central Ward, of the City of Christchurch, hereby resolves that the provisions of section one hundred and seventeen of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to the said street”:
And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act,
