take all reasonable precautions to prevent Korokoro Stream
and its tributaries from being polluted by any operations in
connection with their occupation, and that ingress, egress,
and regress are allowed at all times to officers of the Petone
Borough Council for inspections in connection with that
borough’s water-supply.

Town District of Hunterville.—Hunterville Village.
SECTIONS 87 and 224: Area, 7 acres 0 roods 28 perches;
upset price, £180.
Weighted with £314 4s., valuation for improvements.
Situated in Hunterville Village Settlement. All in grass ;
a small portion along road frontage is flat, the remainder
comprises fairly steep faces. Permanently watered by creek.
The improvements comprise seven-roomed house, cow-shed,
three other sheds, fencing, orchard, felling and grassing ; the
whole valued at £314 4s.
TERMS OF SALE.
(1.) Cash.—One-fifth of the purchase-money on the fall of
the hammer, and the balance, with Crown-grant fee (£1) and
valuation for improvements, within thirty days thereafter.
(2.) Deferred Payments.—5 per cent. of the purchase-
money, valuation for improvements, and license fee (£1 1s.)
on the fall of the hammer; balance by equal annual instal-
ments extending over nineteen years, with interest payable
half-yearly at the rate of 5 per cent. per annum on the un-
paid purchase-money; but with the right to pay off at any
time the whole or any part of the outstanding amount. In
either case if the purchaser fails to make any of the pre-
scribed payments by due date, whether of purchase-money
or interest, the amount (if any) already paid shall be forfeited
and the contract for the sale of the land be null and void.
Titles will be subject to Part XIII of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.—MARLBOROUGH COUNTY.
Class A.
RUN No. 121 (Kekerangu): Area, 52,000 acres; term,
fourteen years; upset annual rental, £300.
Situated about twenty-five miles from the Kekerangu
Post-office, having access by a pack-track, four miles
of which is a formed dray-road. The altitude ranges
from 1,000 ft. to 9,400 ft. About a third of the run is lime-
stone hills carrying tussock, a third is mixed land which
might be termed second and third class with small patches
of scrub, and the balance is high barren country; there is
some good agricultural land at the Bluff which has been
cultivated. The run is capable of considerable improvement.
Rabbits are rather numerous in parts. The improvements
which go with the run consist of three cob whares with iron
roofs, situated at the Bluff, plantations and orchard, sheep
yards and dip, and about eleven miles and a half of fencing,
valued at £1,050.

Soldiers.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned land is
open for sale or lease under the Discharged Soldiers
Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and
applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey
Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Monday, the 10th
December, 1917.
The land may be purchased for cash or on deferred pay-
ments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of
renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a
right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board
for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, on Wednesday, 12th December, 1917, at 10 o’clock
a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examina-
tion of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—CATLIN’S SURVEY DISTRICT.
SECTION 11, Block VII: Area, 194 acres 2 roods 20 perches;
capital value, £100; instalment on deferred payment (ex-
cluding interest), £5; half-yearly rent on lease, £2.
Situated about two miles and a half from Tawanni Rail-
way-siding and school. There is formed-road access to within
five or six chains of the south-east corner. There is perma-
ent water on the section. The land is of very fair quality,
and a fair proportion has an easterly aspect. The section is
under heavy bush, comprising birch, kamai, rimu, and broad-
leaf.

NOTICE is hereby given that a lease of the under-
mentioned land will be submitted for sale by public
auction, under section 132 of the Land Act, 1908, at this
office on Wednesday, the 12th day of December, 1917, at
11 o’clock a.m.
SCHEDULE.
SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.
SECTION 14, Block IX, Chatton Survey District: Area,
199 acres 1 rood 15 perches; upset annual rental, £50.
Valuation for improvements, £142 8s.
The section has been practically all cultivated, and is now
in grass. It is undulating and broken, with fair soil, ring-
fenced, and subdivided into two lots. Situated three miles
from Waikaka Railway-station, school, post-office, and dairy
factory by good gravel road, except last half a mile which is
formed only.
ABSTRACT OF CONDITIONS OF LEASE.
1. Term, twenty-one years from 1st January, 1918.
2. Right of cultivation, but not more than two white crops
in succession to be taken off the land, which is to be left in
best English grasses at the end of the term.
3. All noxious weeds to be cleared off and kept down to
the satisfaction of the Commissioner of Crown Lands.
4. The Department will not be responsible for valuation for
improvements, but if at the end of the term it is decided to
re-lease the land, payment for necessary improvements (such
as exist on the land at the present time) will be payable by
the incoming tenant.
5. No permanent improvements to be effected without the
consent of the Land Board.
6. The lease will be subject to all existing mining rights
and to all future mining rights that may be granted by the
Warden, and the lease will in no way restrict any such
mining rights, and no compensation whatsoever will be pay-
able to the lessee on account of any mining operations.
7. The purchaser must deposit on the fall of the hammer
a half-year’s rent, valuation for improvements, and £1 1s.
lease fee.
Possession will be given on the 1st January, 1918.
