TUMU-KAITUNA DRAINAGE BOARD.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the
Tumu-Kaituna Drainage Board was taken on the 8th day
of August, 1917, on the proposal of the Tumu-Kaituna
Drainage Board to borrow the sum of £3,250 for the purpose
of widening and deepening existing drains and making new
drains.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 18,
and the number of votes recorded against the proposal
was 3.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.
Dated this 4th day of October, 1917.

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the
Borough Hamilton, is published in accordance with
the provisions of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913.

HAMILTON BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Frankton Special-rating Area.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of ratepayers of
the Frankton Special-rating Area taken on the 10th day of
October, 1917, on the proposal of the Hamilton Borough
Council to borrow the sum of £2,500 for the following pur-
pose-
For the purchase, erection, and construction of plant,
machinery, poles, cables, and appliances for the supply
and transmission of electricity within the Frankton
Special-rating Area, comprising all that part of the
Borough of Hamilton which was included in the
Borough of Frankton immediately before the Borough
of Frankton and the Borough of Hamilton were con-
stituted one united borough,
the number of votes recorded for the proposal was 21, and
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was nil;
total, 21.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

ELTHAM COUNTY COUNCIL.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan,

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913,
I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of the
Kaponga Riding (outlying) of the County of Eltham was
taken on the 24th day of October, 1917, on the proposal of
the Eltham County Council to borrow the sum of £1,500 for
the purposes of-

(1.) Erection of a ferro-concrete bridge over Manga-
wheroiti Stream, Eltham Road, Kaponga
Riding
£1,000

(2.) Completing formation and metalling of Auroa
Road on boundary between said Kaponga
Riding and the Egmont County..
£500

Total £1,500

The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 77, and
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was 3.
I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice of Result of Poll on Proposal to raise a Loan.

PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act,
1913, I hereby give notice that a poll of the ratepayers of
the Rotokautuku Bridge Special-rating District of the
County of Waiapu was taken on the 22nd day of September,
1917, on a proposal to borrow the sum of £5,000 for the pur-
pose of building a bridge over the Waiapu River at Roto-
kautuku.
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 13,
the number of votes recorded against the proposal was
nil; total, 13.
I therefore declare that proposal was carried.

Defining Extended-river Limits for Wanganui River.

IN pursuance and exercise of the power and authority
conferred upon me by section 189 of the Shipping and
Seamen Act, 1908, I, George Warren Russell, Minister of
Marine, do hereby define the Wanganui River limits within
which restricted-limit steamships and ships propelled by gas,
oil, fluid, electricity, or any mechanical power other than
steam, and to which restricted-limit certificates are issued,
may ply to be those set forth herein.
Extended-river Limits. Within the seaward arc of a circle
extending three miles from the fixed white light exhibited
from the flagstaff on the North Head at the entrance to the
Wanganui River.

As witness my hand, at Wellington, this 24th day of Octo-
ber, 1917.

Notice respecting Abolition of Palmerston North - Kairanga

River District.

Wellington, 30th October, 1917.
IT is hereby notified for public information that a petition
has been received praying for the abolition of the
Palmerston North Kairanga River District, which said dis-
trict comprises the Borough of Palmerston North and part
of the County of Kairanga.
Objections to or counter-petitions against the proposed
abolition, addressed to the Minister of Internal Affairs, must
be lodged within one month of the first publication of this
notice.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Retail Grocers' Shops in the

Borough of Birkenhead, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority
of the occupiers of all the retail grocers' shops within
the Borough of Birkenhead, has been forwarded to me, desir-
ing that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the
evening of working days as follows: Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, Thursday at 6 o'clock p.m., Friday at 9 o'clock
p.m., Saturday at 1 o'clock p.m., and at 9 o'clock p.m. on the
evening preceding a public holiday, and at 11 o'clock p.m.
on the evenings preceding Christmas Day and New Year's
Day:
And whereas the Birkenhead Borough Council has certified
that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority
of the occupiers of all the grocers' shops within the Borough
of Birkenhead:
Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of
Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices
Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 5th day of
November, 1917, all retail grocers' shops within the Borough
of Birkenhead shall be closed as follows:-On Mondays,
Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on
Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions: (a) The
evening of the working-day immediately preceding any of
