2nd Lieutenant Frank Cargill Wade to be Lieutenant. Dated 6th September, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND RIFLE BRIGADE.
Earl of Liverpool’s Own (Territorial).
2nd Lieutenant Harold Douglas Tennant, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 5th November, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from the 22nd July, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 139, of the 14th December, 1916).

NEW ZEALAND ARMY SERVICE CORPS.
2nd Lieutenant Ingram Milnes, No. 8 Company, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 1st November, 1917, and is absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from the 22nd July, 1914 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 84, of the 13th August, 1914).

NEW ZEALAND MEDICAL CORPS.
Lieut.-Colonel Tracy Russell Inglis, M.B. Melb. Univ., is granted the temporary rank of Colonel whilst acting as Officer Commanding Troops on H.M.N.Z. Hospital Ship “Maheno.” Dated 1st October, 1917.

The undermentioned are granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst doing duty with the N.Z. Expeditionary Force:—
Allan Cameron Owen, M.B., B.S. Dated 18th September, 1917.
Thomas Alexander Milroy, M.R.C.S. Eng., L.R.C.P. Lond. Dated 23rd September, 1917.

NEW ZEALAND CHAPLAINS DEPARTMENT.
The Reverend Henry Lawrence Blamires, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 16th November, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, as from the 27th April, 1911 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 45, of the 1st June, 1911).
The Reverend William Ready, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from the 20th October, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, as from the 21st September, 1914 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 114, of the 29th October, 1914).

The undermentioned to be Chaplains to the Forces, 4th Class:—
The Reverend Percy Coleman Davis. Dated 5th October, 1917.
The Reverend Thomas Nevin Cuttle. Dated 10th October, 1917.

The notification published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 117, of the 19th July, 1917, relating to the Reverend Harry Gordon Blackburne, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is cancelled.
The commission granted the Reverend Guy Thornton, Chaplain to the Forces, 4th Class, is cancelled, under the provisions of section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 2nd October, 1917.

UNATTACHED LIST (b).
Morris Copeland to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 28th September, 1917.
The appointment of 2nd Lieutenant (on probation) Roy Edward Champtaloup is cancelled, under the provisions of section 5 (a) of the Defence Act, 1909. Dated 8th October, 1917.

UNATTACHED LIST (b), GENERAL LIST.
2nd Lieutenant Sydney George Holland, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, with effect from 5th November, 1917, and is absorbed with his original rank and seniority—viz., 2nd Lieutenant, as from the 23rd September, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 107, of the 21st September, 1916).
Rodolph Maia De Lisle to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 24th September, 1917.

ERRATA.
With reference to the notification published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 129, of the 16th August, 1917, relating to Lieut.-Colonel Gilbert James Beattie, N.Z. Field Artillery, E Battery, for the words “29th December, 1915,” read “29th December, 1916.”
The surname of 2nd Lieutenant Lewis Allison Morison is as now described, and not as stated in the N.Z. Gazette No. 60, of the 5th April, 1917.
The notification published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 56, of the 29th March, 1917 (vide List No. 33, N.Z.E.F. Orders), relating to 2nd Lieutenant R. E. Bibby, is cancelled, and the following substituted: “New Zealand Machine-gun Corps. 2nd Lieutenant R. E. Bibby is transferred from the N.Z. Rifle Brigade. Dated 25th December, 1916.”

With reference to the notice published in the N.Z. Gazette No. 146, of the 27th September, 1917, under the heading “Errata,” delete the names of Lieutenant Marcus David Smith, 2nd Lieutenants Bryce Conrad Hart and Edward Roland Nutter. Also in the N.Z. Gazette No. 124, of the 2nd August, 1917, under the heading “New Zealand Rifle Brigade,” delete the name of 2nd Lieutenant Francis Joseph Soler.

In pursuance of the By-laws Act, 1910, I hereby confirm the above-written by-law, and declare that the same came into force on the 15th day of August, 1917.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Retail Grocers’ Shops in the Borough of Mount Eden, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the retail grocers’ shops within the Borough of Mount Eden, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday at 6 o’clock p.m., Friday at 9 o’clock p.m., Saturday at 1 o’clock p.m., and at 9 o’clock p.m. on the evening preceding a public holiday, and at 11 o’clock p.m. on the evenings preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day :

And whereas the Mount Eden Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops in which groceries are sold by retail within the Borough of Mount Eden :

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 29th day of October, 1917, all retail grocers’ shops within the Borough of Mount Eden shall be closed as follows:—On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays at 6 p.m., and on Fridays at 9 p.m., with the following exceptions: (a) The evening of the working-day immediately preceding any of the following days—Boxing Day, Good Friday, Easter Monday, Labour Day, the birthday of the reigning Sovereign, and any other day which, pursuant to a Proclamation by the Governor-General or declaration by the Government, or on the request of the Mayor or Chairman of the local authority, is generally observed as a public holiday or half-holiday, when the closing-hour shall be 9 p.m. ; and (b) the evening of the working-day immediately preceding Christmas Day and the evening of the working-day immediately preceding New Year’s Day, when the closing-hour shall be 11 p.m.

The notice gazetted on the 24th day of November, 1910, is hereby cancelled.
