Governor-General by Order in Council thinks fit to impose : And whereas the Christchurch City Council, the local authority having control of the street described in the Schedule hereto, has passed the following resolution—viz., “That the Christchurch City Council, being the local authority having control of Courtenay Street in the City of Christchurch, hereby resolves that the provisions of section 117 of the Public Works Act, 1908, shall not apply to the said street”:
And whereas it is deemed expedient that such resolution should be approved, subject to the condition hereinafter mentioned :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by the above-in-part-recited Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the said resolution, subject to the condition that no building or part of a building shall at any time be erected on either side of the said street within a distance of thirty-three feet from the centre-line of the said street.
SCHEDULE.
All that street in the Canterbury Land District, City of Christchurch, known as Courtenay Street, connecting Trafalgar and Westminster Streets. As the said street is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 42496, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Land District, and thereon coloured red.

Fixing the Dates and Place for the Payment of Land-tax and Income-tax under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1916, and the Finance Act, 1917.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this eighth day of October, 1917.

His Excellency The Governor-General in Council.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority vested in him under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1916, and the Finance Act, 1917, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and determine that the respective duties leviable under the said Acts by way of land-tax and of income-tax shall be paid on the days and dates set forth hereunder:—
Land-tax under section three of the Finance Act, 1917 : In one sum on Thursday, the fifteenth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen.
Income-tax under section thirty-eight of the Finance Act, 1917, and special war-tax under section thirty-nine of the Finance Act, 1917 : In one sum on Monday, the twenty-eighth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and eighteen.
And, in further pursuance and exercise of the powers and authority aforesaid, and with the like advice and consent as aforesaid, His Excellency doth also determine that the place where the said duties of land-tax and of income-tax shall be payable shall be the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, at the Government Buildings, Wellington, and that notice to the foregoing effect shall be given by the said Commissioner accordingly.

License authorizing the Petone Borough Council to lay or erect Electric Lines from the Power-station, near the Hutt River, to the Municipal Buildings in Jackson Street, Petone.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this eighth day of October, 1917.

His Excellency The Governor-General in Council.
Whereas by section two of the Public Works Amendment Act, 1911, it is provided that no person shall lay, construct, place, put up, or use any electric line except under the authority of a license issued by the Governor-General in Council under that Act :
And whereas the Petone Borough Council (hereinafter referred to as “the licensee”) desires to erect electric lines along the route defined in the Schedule hereto, and hereinafter called “the said electric lines,” and it is expedient accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof under the said section :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other powers in anyway enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made under section two of the aforesaid Act, and published in the New Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter referred to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee to lay, put up, place, and maintain electric lines for lighting, power, and heating purposes, along the route described in the Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
- THE ROUTE OF THE ELECTRIC LINES AUTHORIZED.
All that route commencing at the power-station on the western bank of the Hutt River, opposite the junction of Manchester Street and William Street, Petone, and running in a north-westerly direction to the said street junction; hence in a south-westerly direction along the said William Street; thence in a north-westerly direction along Jackson Street to the Municipal Buildings, at the corner of Bay and Jackson Streets, Petone. As the said route is more particularly delineated by means of a red line on the plan marked P.W.D. 42739, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works, Wellington, in the Land District of Wellington.
- SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph (g) of clause 2 of the regulations.
The generated voltage shall be approximately 550 volts between the terminals.
- DATUM TEMPERATURE.
For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be taken as 20 degrees Fahrenheit.
- DURATION OF LICENSE.
This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine; but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.

Whereas, in accordance with the provisions of section twenty-seven of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916, a petition, signed by not less than two-thirds of the occupiers within the meaning of the Rating Act, 1908, of land within the area described in the Schedule hereto, has been presented to the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, praying that the said area be constituted a road district under the provisions of the said section:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority contained in section twenty-seven of the Reserves and other Lands Disposal and Public Bodies Empowering Act, 1916, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
