Australia, South Sea Islands, Canada, and other British possessions (except the countries for which other rates are prescribed in the table of rates, pp. 10–49, in the Post and Telegraph Guide, March, 1917) .. .. .. 1d. each.
United Kingdom .. .. .. 1d. each (but see table of rates, pp. 63 and 64, in Post and Telegraph Guide, March, 1917).
All other places .. .. .. 1d. each if not exceeding 4 oz., and ½d. additional for every succeeding 2 oz. or fraction thereof.

REGISTRATION.

2d. for all places.

EXPRESS DELIVERY.

The amounts shown are payable in addition to the rates of postage.

For articles not exceeding 3 lb. in weight,—
For first mile, per article .. 6d.
For each additional mile up to two miles, or three miles in all .. 3d.

For articles over 3 lb. but not exceeding 6 lb. in weight,—
For first mile, per article .. 1s.
For each additional mile up to two miles, or three miles in all .. 6d.

On Sundays double the above rates are charged.

  • Including the islands in the Pacific annexed to New Zealand, and the islands of Savaii and Upolu (Samoa) now in the occupation of the British Forces.
    † An additional ½d. (war tax) must be added to the postage on each article.
    ‡ Any packet weighing more than 5 lb. must be sent by Parcel Post.

Rates of Postage on Inland Parcels.


LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-fourth day of September, 1917.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by Order in Council dated the twenty-third day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-sixth day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen, rates of postage were fixed under the authority of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), for the transmission (inter alia) of parcels through the post within the Dominion of New Zealand: And whereas it is desirable to amend such rates of postage in the manner hereinafter set forth:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority conferred upon him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke so much of the Schedule to the aforesaid Order in Council as prescribes the rates of postage on parcels addressed to any destination within New Zealand, and in lieu thereof doth make and fix the rates of postage set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth further order and declare that such rates of postage shall come into force on the fifteenth day of October, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and that this Order shall form part of and be read with the said Order in Council dated the twenty-third day of November, one thousand nine hundred and fourteen.

In addition to the above rates of postage, an additional charge of 6d. shall be levied on all parcels marked “Fragile.”

  • An additional ½d. (war-tax) must be added to the postage on each parcel.
