Amended Regulations under the Education Act.-Travelling-expenses
of Members of Education Boards.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this seventeenth day of September,
1917.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
In pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities vested in him
by the Education Act, 1914, and all other powers and authorities
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby revoke the regula-
tions made by Order in Council of the second day of August, one thousand
nine hundred and fifteen, relating to the travelling-expenses of members
of Education Boards, and in lieu thereof doth hereby make the regula-
tions set forth in the Schedule hereto; and doth prescribe that this
Order shall come into force on the date of the first publication thereof
in the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
THE travelling-expenses which may be held to be reasonably incurred by
a member of a Board in connection with the duties defined by section 31
of the Act are as follows:-
(a.) Fares by public conveyance by the most direct route.
(b.) The expenses attaching to a member's use of his own horse or
vehicle at a rate not exceeding 9d. a mile, reckoned one way
only, together with stabling allowance of 5s. for each night
that a horse has to be kept from home.
(c.) The cost of special conveyance required for making an official
visit, where in the opinion of the Board a public conveyance
is not available or not efficient.
(d.) When a member is obliged to absent himself from home for the
night, living-expenses at the rate of 15s. per day of twenty-
four hours, any portion of a day to be reckoned at the rate
of one twenty-fourth of the full daily rate for each hour of
necessary absence. The day shall be deemed to commence at
the hour nearest to the time of departure from the place of
residence.
(e.) When a member leaves his place of residence and returns thereto
the same day, actual and reasonable living-expenses for the
period of necessary absence.

Appointment of Custodians of Treasury Securities under
Section 96 of the Public Revenues Act, 1910.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this seventeenth
day of September, 1917.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
In pursuance of paragraph (e) of section ninety-six of the
Public Revenues Act, 1910, and of all other powers and
authorities enabling him in that behalf, the Governor-General
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the ad-
vice and consent of the Executive Council of that Dominion,
doth hereby appoint

THE ACCOUNTANT TO THE TREASURY
respectively to be two of the Custodians of the Securities
held in New Zealand belonging to the Treasury.

Conferring on Waimairi County Council Powers of Borough
Councils with respect to Lighting and the Supply of Elec-
tricity.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this seventeenth
day of September, 1917.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is enacted by the Lake Coleridge Water-
power Act, 1915 (hereinafter referred to as "the
said Act"), that the Governor-General may by Order in
Council confer on any local authority proposing to contract
with His Majesty the King for the supply of electricity from
the works established at Lake Coleridge by the Minister of
Public Works such of the powers of Borough Councils with
respect to lighting and the supply of electricity as he thinks
fit, and with such restrictions, modifications, and conditions
as he thinks fit, and thereupon that local authority shall
have and may exercise the said powers accordingly pursuant
to the tenor of the said Order in Council:
And whereas the Waimairi County Council proposes to
contract as aforesaid with His Majesty the King, and it is
