WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.

NOTICE OF INTENTION TO TAKE LAND.

In the matter of the Public Works Act, 1903, and the Municipal Corporations Act, 1903, and their amendments.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Council of the City of Wellington proposes, under the provisions of the above-mentioned Acts, and all other Acts and powers enabling it in that behalf, to execute a certain public work—namely, the widening of Upland Road; and for the purpose of such public work the lands described in the Schedule hereto are required to be taken.

And notice is hereby further given that plans of the lands so required to be taken are deposited in the public office of the Town Clerk to the said Council, in the Town Hall, Cuba Street, in the said city, and are there open for inspection (without fee) by all persons during ordinary office hours; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or the taking of such lands should, if they have well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of the said lands, et forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Wellington City Council, addressed to the Town Clerk at his said office.

SCHEDULE.

Those pieces of land coloured red and blue respectively on the said plan, being parts of Lots 53 and 54 on deposited plan 2325, containing respectively 0·14 of a perch and 0·6 of a perch, being parts of Section 28, Karori Registration District, and part of Block VI, Port Nicholson Survey District, in the Land District of Wellington. As the same are more particularly delineated on the plan above mentioned.

RESOLUTION.

THE following regulations were laid before the members of the Otaki Maori Racing Club at a meeting held on the twenty-eighth day of July, 1917, at Otaki, with a recommendation by the Chairman of the Club, Mr. Ben Ling, that the same be passed at once with a view to their approval by the Governor-General, in pursuance of the Gaming Act, 1908, section 33.

Mr. Ben Ling, the Chairman of the Club and the Meeting, moved, and Mr. Wirihana Rei seconded, and it was resolved, that such regulations should be adopted, and that the Chairman be authorized to sign the same in authentication thereof.

The following are the regulations referred to:

OTAKI MAORI RACING CLUB.

REGULATIONS.

(Under the Gaming Act, 1908.)

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers in that behalf contained in section 33 of the Gaming Act, 1908, and of all other powers and authorities it enabling in that behalf, the Otaki Maori Racing Club, a racing club within the meaning of the said Act (hereinafter referred to as “the said club”), doth hereby make the following regulations controlling the admission of persons to that part of the racecourse situate in the District of Wellington, and known as the Otaki Maori Racecourse, while the said racecourse is used or occupied by the said club for race meetings.

  1. In these regulations the words “bookmaker,” “racing club,” and “race meeting” shall have the meanings ascribed to those terms by section 2 of the Gaming Act, 1908.

  2. The following persons shall be and are hereby excluded from the racecourse above described while the same is used or occupied by the said club for a race meeting, namely:

(a.) Bookmakers.

(b.) All persons under disqualification inflicted by any racing club in the Dominion of New Zealand, the Commonwealth of Australia, or elsewhere, if affiliated to the New Zealand Racing Conference.

(c.) Common prostitutes, and persons who habitually consort with thieves or with persons who have no lawful visible means of support.

The foregoing regulations of the Otaki Maori Racing Club were made and passed by the Otaki Maori Racing Club on the twenty-eighth day of July, 1917, and signed by the Chairman and Secretary.

NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership existing between Messrs. JOHN JAMES FREDERICK WALKER and JOHN VOKES, carrying on business as Chemists and Druggists at Wellesley Street, Auckland, under the name of “Walker & Co.,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from the thirtieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and that such business will hereafter be carried on by the said JOHN JAMES FREDERICK WALKER solely, and he will receive all moneys due to and pay all debts and liabilities due by the said partnership.

CREWE GOLD-DREDGING COMPANY (LIMITED), IN LIQUIDATION.

NOTICE OF FINAL MEETING.

NOTICE is hereby given, in pursuance of section 230 of the Companies Act, 1908, that a general meeting of members of above-named company will be held at the office of the undersigned Liquidator, Tarbert Street, Alexandra, on Thursday, the 20th day of September, 1917, at 7.30 p.m., for the purpose of having an account laid before them showing the manner in which the winding-up has been conducted and the property disposed of; and also of determining by extraordinary resolution the manner in which the books, accounts, and documents of the company and of the Liquidator thereof shall be disposed of.

TAURANGA BOROUGH COUNCIL.

COPY OF RESOLUTION MAKING AND LEVYING SPECIAL RATE.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Tauranga Borough Council hereby resolves as follows:

That, for the purpose of providing the instalments in respect of principal and interest and also the other charges on a loan of £5,000, authorized to be raised by the Tauranga Borough Council, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of metalling, channelling, kerbing, and asphaltng the streets and footpaths of the borough, the said Tauranga Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of threepence three-farthings (3½d.) n the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Borough of Tauranga, comprising the whole of the said borough; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable yearly on the first day of January in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of thirty-six and a half (36½) years, or until the loan is fully paid off.
