Soldiers’ Property Boards of Trustees appointed.

National Efficiency Board,
Wellington, 30th August, 1917.

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance of the regulations made on the 2nd April, 1917, under the War Regulations Act, 1914, and its amendments, for the management of soldiers’ properties, the Minister of Defence has constituted and appointed the following Soldiers’ Property Boards of Trustees, namely :—

  1. THE G. BARRY SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of James Henry Gunson, of Auckland, District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; Moncrieff Murray McCallum, of Auckland, Merchant; James Robertson, of Auckland, Merchant; and Theodore Martin Hammond, of Auckland, Merchant.

  2. THE GEORGE EDWARDS SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of James Henry Gunson, of Auckland, District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; Moncrieff Murray McCallum, of Auckland, Merchant; James Robertson, of Auckland, Merchant; and Theodore Martin Hammond, of Auckland, Merchant.

  3. THE F. G. LEAHY SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of James Henry Gunson, of Auckland, District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; Joseph Greenwood, of Henderson, Fruitgrower; Christopher Dubi, of Henderson, Farmer; and Boden Blakemore, Linotype Operator, of Auckland.

  4. THE E. S. JAMESON SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of Thomas Moss, of Eketahuna, Wellington, District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; Charles Lewis, of Makaretu, Farmer; Hugh Maurice Sanders, of Kopua, Farmer; and Ernest Robert White, of Sherwood, Takapau, Farmer.

  5. THE WAIPUKURAU (L. B. BROWN) SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of Thomas Moss, of Eketahuna, Wellington District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; Davis Canning, of Oakburn, Wallingford, Sheep-farmer; William Isaac Limbrick, of Waipawa, Farmer; Leslie Martin Moncton, of Waipukurau, Sheep-farmer; John Winlove, of Waipukurau, Builder and Contractor; and William Henry Ratnoone, of Waipawa, Sheep-farmer.

  6. THE F. J. HODGES SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of Thomas Moss, of Eketahuna, Wellington District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; William Edward Percival, of Inglewood, Architect; Joseph Brown, of Inglewood, Farmer; and Arthur Morton, of Egmont Village, Farmer.

  7. THE FREDERICK WILLIAM RUSH SOLDIERS’ PROPERTY BOARD OF TRUSTEES.—Consisting of James Henry Gunson, of Auckland, District Commissioner of the National Efficiency Board; Robert Fisher, of Cambridge, Farmer; Martin Butler, of Cambridge, Farmer; and John Charles Potts, of Bruntwood, Cambridge, Farmer.

Cancelling Awards of Long-service and Good-conduct Medals.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has approved that the notice published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 7th day of June, 1917, announcing the award of the Long-service and Good-conduct Medal to

No. 955, Sergeant (temp. Captain) FREDERICK MALCOLM TURNER, M.C., and

No. 970, Sergeant (temp. Lieutenant) VICTOR GEORGE JONES, Royal New Zealand Artillery,

be cancelled, it having been brought to notice that in calculating their length of service active service was admitted as counting double time, which is contrary to the regulations governing the issue of the medal.

Land Surveyors’ Examination, September, 1917, Australia and New Zealand.

IT is hereby notified for general information that the Surveyors Board, in conjunction with the Australian Surveyors Boards, will conduct an examination of candidates for licenses to survey, commencing at 10 a.m. on Monday, 24th September, 1917, at Wellington.

Candidates are notified that their applications, on the proper form, must reach the Secretary of the Board not later than 5 p.m. on the 13th September, and that the examination fee of £1 1s. must be paid, at least seven days before the date of the examination, to the Secretary of the Board, from whom examination regulations, application forms, and other particulars may be obtained.

The amount of postage must also be remitted if plans and field-books are desired to be returned.

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.

Land in Otago Land District forfeited.

NOTICE is hereby given that the lease of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Otago Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915.

OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.

Section 11, Block VII, Catlins.

TENURE: Special tenure lease, Lease No. 12. Formerly held by H. White. Reason for forfeiture: Selector’s request.

NOTICE is hereby given that the license of the undermentioned land having been declared forfeited by resolution of the Marlborough Land Board, the said land has thereby reverted to the Crown under the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.

Pastoral Run No. 121, Marlborough County. Tenure: Pasturage license, License No. 251. Formerly held by Michael Aloysius Mackle and James Alphonsus Mackle. Reason for forfeiture: Non-payment of rent.

Pastoral Run No. 539, Lord’s River District, Stewart Island County.

TENURE: Pastoral license, License No. 322. Formerly held by Henry John Roderique. Reason for forfeiture: Arrears of rent; lessee wished to abandon.
