Soldiers’ Property Boards of Trustees appointed.
National Efficiency Board,

IT is hereby notified that, in pursuance of the regulations made on the 2nd April, 1917, under the War Regulations Act, 1914, and its amendments, for the management of soldiers’ properties, the Minister of Defence has constituted and appointed the following Soldiers’ Property Boards of Trustees, namely:—

CROWN LANDS NOTICES.
Lands in Otago Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.
District Lands and Survey Office,
Dunedin, 3rd August, 1917.
NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Tuesday, 11th September, 1917.
The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive periods of thirty-three years, and a right to acquire the freehold.
Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Dunedin, on Wednesday, 12th September, 1917, at 10 o’clock a.m.
The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.
SCHEDULE.
OTAGO LAND DISTRICT.—FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Tuapeka County.—Waitahuna East and West Survey Districts.
Waitahuna Settlement No. 1.
SECTION 2A: Area, 273 acres 2 roods 35 perches; capital value, £2,060; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £103; half-yearly rent on lease, £46 7s. Buildings, £115; half-yearly payment, £5 16s. 2d.*
*Interest and sinking fund on buildings valued at £115, payable in cash, or in fourteen years by twenty-eight half-yearly payments of £5 16s. 2d.; total half-yearly payment, £52 3s. 2d. These buildings comprise two-roomed house, barn, and stable.
Weighted with £60 10s., valuation for improvements consisting of fencing, pig-sty, and fowl-house.
Situated about two miles from Waitahuna Railway-station. Access is by a good road. The land is undulating, with steep faces along the gullies. The soil is a very fair black loam, on a clay formation; well watered. The elevation ranges from 500 ft. to 1,000 ft. above sea-level.
Fencing to the value of £138 13s. is included in the capital value of the land.
Tuapeka County.—Tuapeka East Survey District.
Waitahuna Settlement No. 2.
Section 1A: Area, 483 acres 1 rood; capital value, £2,540; instalment on deferred payment (excluding interest), £127; half-yearly rent on lease, £57 3s.
Weighted with £199 14s., valuation for improvements consisting of new cottage, two sheds, clearing scrub, sheep-yards (material), and fencing.
Situated about three miles from Waitahuna, and about a mile from Forsyth Railway-station. The Town of Lawrence is about five miles away. Access is by a good road. The soil is a light black loam, resting on a clay formation. A fairly large portion of the section is ploughable. The land is mostly undulating, but there are steep faces along the gullies. Well watered. The elevation ranges from 350 ft. to 800 ft. above sea-level.
Fencing to the value of £151 15s. 6d. is included in the capital value of the land.
