Appointments, Promotions, Resignations, and Transfers of Officers of the Staff and Territorial Force.

HIS Excellency the Governor-General has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the undermentioned officers of the Staff and Territorial Force.
STAFF.
Lieutenant - Colonel (temp. Colonel) George Cecil Burleigh Wolfe (Reserve of Officers) relinquishes his appointment as Inspector of Rifle Clubs, Drill Halls, and Rifle Ranges, and the temporary rank of Colonel whilst so employed. Dated 30th June, 1917.
Lieutenant (temp. Major) Jesse Alfred Wallingford, N.Z. Staff Corps, is appointed Inspector of Rifle Clubs, Drill Halls, and Rifle Ranges, vice Lieutenant-Colonel G. C. B. Wolfe. Dated 30th June, 1917.
QUEEN ALEXANDRA’S 2ND (WELLINGTON WEST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain John Hastings Chisholm (N.Z. Expeditionary Force) is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 14th November, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 4, of the 10th January, 1917); to date from 12th August, 1917.
3RD (AUCKLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain Maxwell Aldred (N.Z. Expeditionary Force) is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein — viz., Major, as from 1st November, 1915 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 5, of the 20th January, 1916); to date from 9th August, 1917.
4TH (WAIKATO) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Reserve of Officers.
With reference to the notification in the N.Z. Gazette No. 115, of the 12th July, 1917, relating to Major William Atherton Bennett, for the words “19th July, 1917,” read “19th August, 1917.”
7TH (SOUTHLAND) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain Robert Macquorn Gairdner, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein —viz., Major, as from 11th October, 1916 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 126, of the 9th November, 1916); to date from 12th August, 1917.
9TH (WELLINGTON EAST COAST) MOUNTED RIFLES.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Joseph Ward Sturton is transferred to the N.Z. Army Service Corps, No. 1 Company. Dated 29th June, 1917.
12TH (OTAGO) MOUNTED RIFLES.
Captain Alline Vernon Wayte, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein — viz., Major, as from 24th May, 1917 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 105, of the 28th June, 1917); to date from 12th August, 1917.
NEW ZEALAND GARRISON ARTILLERY.
Reserve of Officers.
Captain Norman Edmund Lee, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Reserve of Officers with his original rank and seniority—viz., Lieutenant, as from 2nd June, 1909 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 57, of the 13th July, 1911); to date from 9th August, 1917.
CORPS OF NEW ZEALAND ENGINEERS.
New Zealand Railway Battalions (South Island).
Lieutenant Gilbert Simpson, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Lieutenant, as from 7th July, 1913 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 77, of the 16th October, 1913); to date from 14th August, 1917.
2ND (SOUTH CANTERBURY) REGIMENT.
Captain Alfred Frank Boys, N.Z. Expeditionary Force, is struck off the strength, and absorbed into the Establishment with his original rank and seniority therein—viz., Major, as from 31st May, 1917 (vide N.Z. Gazette No. 102, of the 21st June, 1917); to date from 12th August, 1917.
3RD (AUCKLAND) REGIMENT (COUNTESS OF RANFURLY’S OWN).
Captain (temp.) Alfred Coutts is appointed Acting Brigade Major (temp.) to the Auckland Infantry Brigade. Dated 28th February, 1917.
Lieutenant George Harry Woolley is appointed Assistant Musketry Instructor in the N.Z. Expeditionary Force training camps, and is granted the temporary rank of Captain whilst so employed. Dated 16th May, 1917.
4TH (OTAGO) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant George Edgar Henderson Garden is appointed an Attesting Officer under the Military Service Act. Dated 12th July, 1917.
10TH (NORTH OTAGO) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant Henry Vincent Foster is transferred to the Unattached List (b). Dated 1st June, 1917.
12TH (NELSON AND MARLBOROUGH) REGIMENT.
2nd Lieutenant William Benzies, from the Unattached List (b), General List, to be 2nd Lieutenant. Dated 13th July, 1917.
13TH (NORTH CANTERBURY AND WESTLAND) REGIMENT.
Captain George Edward Perkins retires under the provisions of paragraph 127, General Regulations, 1913. Dated 9th July, 1917.
NEW ZEALAND ARMY SERVICE CORPS.
No. 1 Company.
2nd Lieutenant (temp.) Joseph Ward Sturton, from the 9th (Wellington East Coast) Mounted Rifles, to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.). Dated 29th June, 1917.
