Arrangements for taking Poll respecting Proposed Borough of
Featherston, County of Featherston.
LIVERPOOL, Governor-General.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this sixteenth day
of July, 1917.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the the Municipal Corporations Amend-
ment Act, 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal
that the area described in the Schedule hereto may be con-
stituted a borough under the Municipal Corporations Act,
1908; and, further, doth hereby make the following appoint-
ments and arrangements for the purpose of taking the said
poll :-

Francis Edwin Merlet, of Featherston, to be the Return-
ing Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll, and also
to be the person authorized to prepare a voters roll of the
persons entitled to vote at the said poll. -
The voters roll prepared and signed by the said Francis
Edwin Merlet shall be the voters roll to be used at the said
poll. -
Each person on such roll shall have and may exercise
one vote, and no more. -
The said poll shall be taken on Thursday, the twenty-
sixth day of July, one thousand nine hundred and seventeen,
at the office of the Featherston Town Board, Featherston,
and shall close at seven o'clock in the afternoon of that day. -
Except as herein provided, the said poll shall be taken
as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local
Elections and Polls Act, 1908, and the Returning Officer
hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer
appointed for the purposes of that Act.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED THE BOROUGH OF
FEATHERSTON.
ALL that area in the Wellington Land District bounded
towards the north-west generally, commencing at the north-
western corner of Section 81, Featherston Town District;
thence by a right line to the south-eastern corner of Section 86,
Featherston Town District, across Watt, Waterfield, Johnston,
Lyon, and Hickson Streets, across Brown Street, and by a
public road to the south-eastern corner of Section 285,
Featherston; towards the south generally by Sections 289
and 288, across a street, and by Sections 287 and 286 to
Brown Street; thence by the south-east side of that street
to a point in line with the north-east boundary of Section 212,
across Brown Street, by Section 212 to Lyon Street, across
that street and by the Otauira Stream to the northern bound-
ary of Section 338, and by the north-eastern boundary of
that section to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary
of Section 464, across a public road, and by Sections 464
and 516 to the south-west boundary of Section 66, and by
the south-west boundary and south-eastern boundary of that
section to the north-western boundary of Section 81, the
place of commencement.

Whakatane, County of Whakatane.

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in him by the Municipal Corporations Amend-
ment Act, 1913, His Excellency the Governor-General of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and
consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth
hereby direct that a poll shall be taken on the proposal that
the area described in the Schedule hereto may be constituted
a borough under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908; and,
further, doth hereby make the following appointments and
arrangements for the purpose of taking the said poll :---

John Wheeler, of Whakatane, to be the Returning
Officer for the purpose of taking the said poll, and also to be
the person authorized to prepare a voters roll of the persons
entitled to vote at the said poll. -
The voters roll prepared and signed by the said John
Wheeler shall be the voters roll to be used at the said poll. -
Each person on such roll shall have and may exercise
one vote, and no more. -
The said poll shall be taken at the office of the Whaka-
tane Town Board on Wednesday, the first day of August, one
thousand nine hundred and seventeen, and shall close at
seven o'clock in the afternoon of that day. -
Except as herein provided, the said poll shall be taken
as nearly as may be in the manner provided by the Local
Elections and Polls Act, 1908, and the Returning Officer
hereby appointed shall be deemed to be a Returning Officer
appointed for the purposes of that Act.
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE CONSTITUTED THE BOROUGH OF
WHAKATANE.
ALL that area in the Auckland Land District bounded by a
line commencing at a point at high-water mark on the right
bank of the Whakatane River, in line with the northern
boundary of Allotment 273, Waimana Parish, thence to and
by the north boundary of said Allotment 273 to its north-east
corner; thence along the western boundary of Small Grazing-
run No. 1 to the south-east corner of Allotment 274, Waimana
Parish; thence by a line bearing 220Β° 15' to the old Whakatane
Ohiwa Road; thence by a line bearing 236Β° to the angle
of the Whakatane-Ohiwa Road north of peg 146; thence
south across the said road; thence westerly along the south
side of said road to the Whakatane-Taneatua Road; thence
across the last said road to the north-east corner of Allotment
261; thence south along the eastern boundary of said Allot-
ment 261 to its south-east corner; thence westerly along
the southern boundaries of Allotment 261 aforesaid and
Allotment 233, Waimana Parish, across a road to a point
on the eastern boundary of Allotment No. 8, 5 chains distant
from the north-east corner of last said allotment; thence
along a line parallel to and 5 chains distant from the northern
boundary of said Allotment 8 to the road forming its western
boundary; thence northerly along the eastern side of the
road forming part of the western boundary of Allotment 8
aforesaid to the road at its northern boundary; thence
westerly by a line across a road and by the south side of the
road intersecting Allotment 104 and that side line produced
to high-water mark of the Whakatane River; thence by
the right bank of the said Whakatane River to the point of
commencement.

Authorizing the Whangarei Harbour Board to reclaim Land
between Haha Creek and the Railway-line at Kioreroa,
Whangarei Harbour.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this sixteenth day
of July, 1917.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR-GENERAL IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS it is provided by the one-hundred-and-fifty-
fifth section of the Harbours Act, 1908 (hereinafter
called "the said Act"), that where a Harbour Board is
desirous of executing or constructing upon lands vested in
such Board or upon lands of the Crown any harbour-works
of such a nature that the same could, but for this section,
only be carried out and executed under the authority of a
special Act, the Board may apply to the Governor-General
in Council for a special order, and, if the Governor-General
in Council thinks fit, such order may be made and granted:
And whereas the Whangarei Harbour Board (hereinafter
called "the Board") is desirous of reclaiming from the sea
certain lands between Haha Creek and the railway-line at
Kioreroa, Whangarei Harbour, and the said harbour-works
are of such a nature as aforesaid, and the Board has applied
to the Governor-General in Council for a special order autho-
rizing the execution of the said harbour-works:
And whereas the conditions precedent to the granting of
a special order prescribed by the said Act have been duly
performed and observed, and it appears expedient that such
order should be made:
And whereas it has been made to appear to the Governor-
General in Council that the proposed work will not be or
tend to the injury of navigation:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor-General of
the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of
