Notice respecting Proposed Alteration of Boundaries of the Borough of Gisborne.

PURSUANT to section 14 of the Municipal Corporations Amendment Act, 1913, it is hereby notified that a petition, in accordance with the regulations, signed by not less than one-fourth of the electors of the area described in the Schedule hereto, being part of the Taruheru Road District, in the County of Cook, has been presented to His Excellency the Governor, praying that the said area may be excluded from the said county and included in the Borough of Gisborne. All persons affected are hereby called upon to lodge any written objections to or petitions against the proposed alteration within one month from the first publication of this notice. Such objections or petitions are to be addressed and forwarded to the Minister of Internal Affairs Wellington
SCHEDULE.
AREA PROPOSED TO BE ADDED TO THE BOROUGH OF GISBORNE.
ALL that area in the Hawke’s Bay Land District bounded by a line commencing at a point on the right bank of the Taruheru River where the western boundary of the Borough of Gisborne meets the said right bank; thence along the present western boundary of the said borough to the left bank of the Waikanae Stream, along the left bank of that stream to the north-eastern boundary of Matawhero No. 1a Block, along the said north-eastern boundary to the Gisborne–Makaraka Railway line; thence across the said railway-line to and along the southern boundary of Lot 1, Matawhero B Block, to the boundary between the Gisborne Park Racecourse and the Elgen Township; thence along that boundary and its production to the right bank of the Taruheru River, and along the right bank of that river to the present boundary of the Borough of Gisborne, the place of commencement.

Revoking Appointments of Post Officers to take Statutory Declarations of Postmasters and other Post Officers.

IN pursuance of the powers delegated to me under section 8, clause (d), of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, I, Joseph George Ward, Postmaster-General of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke the Warrants issued under the authority conferred by section 9, subsection (2), of the Post and Telegraph Act, 1908, dated the 18th day of June, 1913, the 13th day of June, 1914, the 16th day of August, 1915, and the 9th day of February, 1917, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the 3rd day of July, 1913, the 18th day of June, 1914, the 19th day of August, 1915, and the 15th day of February, 1917, respectively, in so far as they appoint the following Post officers to take statutory declarations of Postmasters and other Post officers; and do hereby order that, except as altered by this warrant and previous warrants of similar import, the said warrants of the 18th day of June, 1913, the 13th day of June, 1914, the 16th day of August, 1915, and the 9th day of February, 1917, shall continue in full force and effect:—

THE following notice, received from the Mayor of the Borough of Petone, is published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

PETONE BOROUGH COUNCIL.
In the matter of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and its amendments, and of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.
I HEREBY give notice that on the 27th day of June, 1917, a proposal was submitted by the Petone Borough Council to the ratepayers of the Petone Eastern Special-rating Area (as defined by a resolution of the Council passed on the 14th day of December, 1914) for the raising of a special loan of £4,000 to complete the sewage drainage scheme at present being laid down within the said area; and the number of votes recorded respectively for and against the proposal was as follows: For, 91; against, 7; informal, 2.
And I declare the said proposal to be carried.
Dated at Petone this 28th day of June, 1917.

Notice fixing the Closing-hours of all Shops in the Morrinsville Town District, under the Shops and Offices Act.
WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Morrinsville Town District, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all the shops in the district be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: On Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays at 5.30 p.m., and on Saturdays at 9 p.m.: And whereas the Morrinsville Town Board has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of all the shops within the Morrinsville Town District:
Now, therefore, I, William Herbert Herries, Acting Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 9th day of July, 1917, all shops within the Morrinsville Town District shall be closed accordingly.
