Altering Boundaries of Ellesmere Lands Drainage District,
Counties of Ellesmere and Springs.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this eighteenth
day of June, 1917.
Present:
HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.
WHEREAS the Ellesmere Lands Drainage Board, being
of the opinion that the lands described in the First
Schedule hereto, situated in the Counties of Paparua and
Halswell, and not included in the Ellesmere Lands Drainage
District (hereinafter referred to as “the said district”), are
deriving benefit from the drainage works carried out by the
said Board, did, in accordance with the provisions of section
six of the Land Drainage Amendment Act, 1913 (hereinafter
referred to as “the said Act”), present a petition to His
Excellency the Governor praying that the boundaries of the
said district might be altered so as to include such lands in
the said district:
And whereas in respect thereof a Commission has been
appointed to inquire and report as to the several matters
mentioned in subsection three of section six of the said Act:
And whereas the Commission so appointed has reported
that such lands should be included in the said district:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in him by section six of the said
Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the
Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order
and declare that as on and from the date hereof the bound-
aries of the said district are hereby altered so as to include
in the said district the lands described in the First Schedule
hereto, and that the boundaries of the said district shall be
those described in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA INCLUDED IN THE ELLESMERE LANDS DRAINAGE
DISTRICT.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded by
a line along the present boundary of the Ellesmere Lands
Drainage District from the junction of Ellesmere Junction
Road with Ellesmere Road, by Dawson’s to Quarry Road,
along the eastern side of that road and the north-eastern
side of Lower Lincoln Road to a point in line with the
northern side of the road intersecting Sections 333 and 408,
to and along the northern side of that road and the north-
eastern side of Halswell Junction Road, to a point in line
with the south-eastern boundary of Section 952; thence to
and along the south-eastern boundary of that section to its
southernmost corner, and along a right line thence to the
easternmost corner of Section 342, along the south-eastern
boundary of that section and a right line from its southern-
most corner to the easternmost corner of Section 775; thence
along the north-eastern, north-western, and south-western
boundaries of that section, the north-western boundary of
Section 746, and the north-eastern side of the Prebbleton
and Halswell Road to the Southbridge Branch Railway, by
that railway to the southern side of Ellesmere Junction Road,
and along the southern side of that road to Ellesmere Road
by Dawson’s, the place of commencement.
Also all that area bounded by a line along the eastern side
of Quarry Road from Hoon Hay Road to the junction of
roads at the westernmost corner of Section 14330, along the
southern and eastern boundaries of that section, the eastern
boundaries of Sections 297 and 1108, and the northern
boundary of the said Section 1108 to Quarry Road, the
place of commencement.
Also all that area bounded by a line along the eastern side
of old Lower Lincoln Road from the north-western corner
of Section 1274 to Burke’s Bush Road, along the northern
side of that road to Section 17736, along the north-western
boundary of that section and a right line to the south-eastern
corner of Section 8095, along the eastern boundary of that
section, the south-western boundary of Section 19207 and the
southern boundaries of Sections 17607 and 6359 to Lower
Lincoln Road, the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
ELLESMERE LANDS DRAINAGE DISTRICT.
BOUNDED towards the west generally by the western side of
the road forming the south-west boundary of Section 5608
and its continuation to Section 10211; thence by the north-
western side of Ellesmere Road by Dawson’s to Ellesmere
Junction Road, by the southern side of that road to the
Southbridge Branch Railway, by that railway to and across
the Prebbleton and Halswell Road, by the north-eastern side
of that road to Section 746, by the north-western boundary
of that section, the south-western, north-western, and north-
eastern boundaries of Section 775 to its easternmost corner,
and a right line to the southernmost corner of Section 342,
the south-eastern boundary of that section and a right line
to the southernmost corner of Section 952, and the south-
eastern boundary of that section to and across Halswell
Junction Road; thence towards the north-east and east
generally by the north-eastern side of the said Halswell
Junction Road, the northern side of the road intersecting
Sections 408 and 333, and the eastern side of old Lower
Lincoln Road and Quarry Road to Section 1108, by the
northern boundary of that section, the eastern boundaries
of Sections 1108, 297, and 14330, the southern boundary of
the last-mentioned section, the eastern side of a closed road
forming the north-western boundary of Section 6359, and
the eastern side of old Lower Lincoln Road to Sec-
tion 1274; thence by Sections 6359, 17607, 19207, the
eastern boundary of Section 8095, and a right line to and
by the north-western boundary of Section 17736 to Burke’s
Bush Road North, by the northern side of that road, by
the eastern side of the road west of Section 17737, and by
the northern side of Burke’s Bush Road South; towards the
east generally by the eastern side of the road separating
Section 17741 from Section 35510, and its continuation by
the south side of the road separating Section 17739 from
Section 17740 to Section 34450; thence by Section 13538
and by the north side of the road forming part of the northern
boundaries of Sections 807 and 13556; thence again by Sec-
tion 13538, by Sections 19537 and 18810; thence by a line
across a road by Section 34243; thence by a line across a
road by Sections 34303 and 23402 to Gerkin’s Road, by the
north side of Gerkin’s Road, by the north side of the road
separating Section 17848 from Section 22896 and its con-
tinuation, by the south-east side of the Ahuriri Bush Road
North, and by the eastern side of Ahuriri and Little River
Road, by Sections 1879, 7482, 3864, and 3898, and by the
western and northern side of a road passing through said
Sections 3864, 3898, and 5481, across a road and by Sec-
tions 4395, 2145, 2104, across a road, and by Section 3854,
across a road, and by Sections 34518, 12130, Reserve No. 1676,
Sections 21215, 12129, 21163, across a road, and by the
southern side of a road passing through Section 2868, by
Sections 4134 and 21162 and Reserve No. 1104, by the
eastern side of a road passing through Lot No. 1 of Block 6
of Reserve No. 959, across a road, and by Section 2888, by
the north-eastern boundaries of Lot No. 2 of said Block 6 of
Reserve No. 959, by Section 34083, by the eastern boundaries
of Lot 3 of said Block 6 and of a fishing reserve, by Sec-
tion 34208, by the north-western side of the road forming
the north-western boundary of Lots 1B and 1A of Block 7
of Reserve No. 959, across that road, by Reserve No. 2581,
by Sections 34088, 34087, across a road, by Section 34086,
across a road, by Section 2770, across a road, by Sections 1860
and 2769, Reserve No. 1103, and Section 18790, across a
road, by Sections 2279, 18789, 3296, 23460, Reserve No. 1102,

generally by the south-eastern side of the road which forms

tions 35679 and 35665 and continues to the extremity of
the spit at the outlet of Lake Ellesmere; thence by the
ocean to the production of the north-west boundary-line of
Native Reserve No. 878.; thence again towards the west,
north-west, and north generally by the said boundary-line
produced and the north-west boundary-line of said Native
Reserve No. 878, across and by the north side of Pohau’s
Road, by Native Reserve No. 901, by the south-western side
of Bridge’s Road, across that road, by Sections 10462, 9467,
8828, 9189, 9157, 8929, 9690, 9174, across a road, by Sec-
