Boundaries of City of Christchurch altered.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-first
day of August, 1916.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS a petition has been presented to the Governor,
under section fourteen of the Municipal Corporations
Amendment Act, 1913, praying the Governor to alter the
boundaries of the City of Christchurch by including therein
the area described in the Schedule hereto: And whereas a
notice showing the proposed alteration in boundaries of the
said city has been gazetted and publicly notified, and no
objections in writing against such alteration have been lodged:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
and authorities vested in him by the Municipal Corporations
Amendment Act, 1913, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby declare that, as from the second day of
October, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, the area
described in the First Schedule hereto shall be included in
the City of Christchurch, and shall form part of the Sydenham
Ward thereof; and that the boundaries of the said Sydenham
Ward shall be those described in the Second Schedule hereto.
FIRST SCHEDULE.
AREA INCLUDED IN CITY OF CHRISTCHURCH.
ALL that area in the Canterbury Land District bounded
towards the north-east by the City of Christchurch and the
Borough of Woolston from Wilson’s Road to the River Heathcote; thence towards the east, south, and south-west generally by the River Heathcote to the south-eastern boundary
of the City of Christchurch; and thence towards the north-west by the City of Christchurch to the place of commencement.
SECOND SCHEDULE.
SYDENHAM WARD.
ALL that area in the City of Christchurch bounded by a line
along the southern side of Moorhouse Avenue from Lower
Lincoln Road to Fitzgerald Avenue, along the eastern side
of Fitzgerald Avenue to Ferry Road, along the southern side
of Ferry Road to Wilson’s Road, the western side of Wilson’s
Road to reserve for the Christchurch–Lyttelton Railway,
along the north-eastern side of that reserve to the River
Heathcote, along the left bank of that river to Colombo Street,
along the eastern side of that street to Strickland Street,
along the north-eastern side of Strickland Street, the northern
side of South Crescent Road, the northern side of Jerrold
Street, and the north-eastern side of Bright’s Road to Lower
Lincoln Road, and along the south-eastern side of that road
to Moorhouse Avenue, the place of commencement.

Consenting to stopping Portion of Road in Block IX,
Hawkins District, Malvern County.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-eighth
day of August, 1916.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three (a)
of the Public Works Act, 1908, it is enacted that a
local authority shall not declare any county road or district
road to be stopped until the consent thereof of the Governor,
by Order in Council gazetted, is obtained:
And whereas the Malvern County Council has applied for
such consent in respect of the portion of road described in
the Schedule hereto:
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the above-in-part-recited Act, and of all other powers in anywise
enabling him in this behalf, His Excellency the Governor
of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the
advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said
Dominion, doth hereby consent to the Malvern County
Council stopping the portion of road described in the
Schedule hereto.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of road permitted to be
stopped: 1 acre 1 rood 39 perches.
Adjoining or passing through Rural Sections 32471 and
18338, Block IX, Hawkins District.
In the Canterbury Land District; as the same is more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40255,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured green.

Consenting to a Mortgage of Native Land.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-eighth day of August, 1916.
Present:
His Excellency the Governor in Council.
WHEREAS by section two hundred and thirty of the
Native Land Act, 1909, it is provided that no instrument of alienation of Native land by way of mortgage or
charge, other than a mortgage or charge in favour of a State
Loan Department, shall be confirmed by a Board or the
Court without the precedent consent of the Governor in
Council:
And whereas application has been made for the consent of
the Governor in Council to a mortgage of the block or parcel
of land mentioned in the Schedule hereto: And whereas it
is expedient that the precedent consent of the Governor in
Council should issue:
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice
and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion,
doth hereby consent to the confirmation of an alienation
by way of mortgage of the block or parcel of land set out in
the Schedule hereto. And it is hereby declared that this
Order in Council is made under the provisions in that behalf
of the Native Land Act, 1909, and shall operate accordingly
as a consent of the Governor in Council to the proceedings
hereby authorized.

RATAHI A Block (part): Approximate area. 65 acres 3 roods
2 perches; Wellington Provincial District.
