THE Public Service Commissioner has made the following additions to and alterations in the scale of salaries of officers of the General Division of the Post and Telegraph Department, to take effect from the 1st July, 1916:—

Applications invited for the Position of Beekeeper at Ruakura Farm of Instruction, Department of Agriculture.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 18th September, 1916, for the position of Beekeeper at Ruakura Farm of Instruction, Department of Agriculture.

  1. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  2. Applicants will require to have the following qualifications:—

(a.) A thorough practical knowledge of beekeeping in all its branches, including queen-rearing, as applied to New Zealand conditions.

(b.) A sound knowledge of diseases affecting bees and of their life history, and means of control.

(c.) Ability to impart instruction in the most successful methods of modern bee-culture by lectures, demonstrations, and correspondence.

(d.) Ability to initiate and carry out experiments in connection with bee-culture.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £170, rising by annual increments of £10 to £220.
