Notice of Intention to take Land in Block I, Aria Survey District, for Road Purposes.
NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block I, Aria Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Aria, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.
SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 14 acres 0 roods 15 perches.
Portion of Umukaimata 5B Section 2, Block I, Aria Survey District (Taranaki R.D.).
In the Taranaki Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40491, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured pink.

PURSUANT to the provisions of the Marriage Act, 1908, the following name of an Officiating Minister within the meaning of the said Act is published for general information:—

Unclaimed Property.
WHEREAS it was reported to the Public Trustee that Leo Armiger or Elmiger, of Switzerland, being the owner of certain property in New Zealand—to wit, an overdue memorandum of mortgage, registered number 60092, securing the repayment of the sum of £435, with interest thereon, over all that piece of land containing 174 acres 2 roods 16 perches, more or less, being Section No. 1 of Block 5, Cambridge Survey District, Fencourt Settlement, and being all the land comprised in certificate of title, Vol. 247, folio 16, Auckland Land Transfer Registry, subject to memorandum of mortgage, registered number 43331, was absent from New Zealand, and had no agent in New Zealand with authority to take possession of and administer such property: And whereas upon the application of the Public Trustee an order was made by the Honourable John Henry Hosking, Esq., a Judge of the Supreme Court of New Zealand, on the 4th day of July, 1916, authorizing the Public Trustee to exercise in respect of such property the powers mentioned in subsections (e) and (j) of the said section 87: And whereas such property is situate in the Provincial District of Auckland;
Now, the Public Trustee hereby gives notice that he proposes to exercise in respect of such property the powers conferred upon him by subsections (e) and (j) of the said section 87.

Notice to make Returns of Standard Income and to notify Election under the Finance Act, 1916.
Land and Income Tax Department,

NOTICE is hereby given that, in pursuance of the above Act, every person and company having derived excess profits as defined by the said Act during the year ending 31st March, 1916, is hereby required to notify me of his election relating to standard income and to make and furnish to me the necessary returns and statements on the forms provided (which may be obtained at any postal money-order office) on or before 7th October, 1916.
And notice is hereby given that such returns, statements, and notices shall in all cases be delivered at or forwarded to the office of the Commissioner of Taxes, in the Government Buildings, at Wellington.
In cases where the taxpayer has already furnished the returns and statements required he need only notify me of his election.
In cases where annual balance-sheets and profit and loss accounts have been prepared, copies of the same will be accepted in lieu of the returns and statements.

WANGANUI HARBOUR.—DREDGE SUNK OFF WHARF.

THE Wanganui Harbour Board report that the Harbour Dredge sank at her moorings alongside and at the extreme lower end of Castlecliff Wharf, lying with a list outwards, distance about 70 ft. from wharf.
A white light will be shown at night time to mark the position.

Notice to Mariners No. 64 of 1916.
OLD MOTUEKA HARBOUR.—CLOSING OF WHARF AND DISCONTINUANCE OF BEACON LIGHTS.

THE Motueka Harbour Board have notified that in connection with the old harbour at Motueka the wharf has been partially dismantled, and is now closed against use for shipping purposes; also that the white light previously shown at the wharf and the two white lights formerly exhibited at the beacons, as well as the beacons at the entrance to the old harbour, have been discontinued.

Notice to Mariners No. 65 of 1916.
WANGANUI HARBOUR.—LIGHT ON CHRISTCHURCH MEAT COMPANY’S WHARF.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 15th August, 1916.
THE Wanganui Harbour Board have notified that a white light visible all round the horizon is now shown from the Christchurch Meat Company’s Wharf, opposite Landguard Bluff, in Wanganui Harbour. The light should be visible for a distance of about five miles.
