Run 565 (Class A): Area, 23,200 acres; term, twenty-one years; half-yearly rental, £112 10s.; valuation for improvements, £367 13s. (fencing).
The successful applicant will be required to take a license (expiring at the same time as the run license) under section 59 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, over the homestead-site on Galloway Settlement. Area, 62 acres; half-yearly rental, £7 17s. 6d.; valuation for buildings, £530. The valuation for buildings may be paid in cash, or in fourteen years by twenty-eight half-yearly instalments of £26 15s. 4d.
The successful applicant will also be required to take a pastoral license for a term of twenty years from 1st March, 1918, over adjoining Run No. 565A, containing 4,660 acres, at an annual rental of £60, and pay half value of boundary fence with Run 566. He will also be required to take grazing licenses from year to year until the area is wanted by the Crown over 2,660 acres of fruit-growing reserve at an annual rental of £25, and 800 acres of afforestation reserve at an annual rental of £5.
This run comprises a series of rolling ridges, rising from an elevation of from about 640 ft. to 3,400 ft. The northern portions of the runs are rather dry and bare, but the southern or more elevated part has a very fair vegetation of tussock and the usual native grasses. The homestead area lies within half a mile of the Galloway Siding on the Otago Central Railway, and within half a mile of the Galloway School. There is permanent water in the Manorburn, and also in some of the other gullies. There are a number of good roads leading to and from the run.
Run 566 (Class A): Area, 28,380 acres; term, twenty-one years; half-yearly rental, £137 10s.; valuation for improvements, £810 15s. (buildings £525, fencing £285 15s.).
The successful applicant will be required to take a license (expiring at the same time as the run license) under section 59 of the Land for Settlements Act, 1908, over the homestead-site on Galloway Settlement. Area, 44 acres 2 roods; half-yearly rental, £6 10s. 6d.
This run comprises a series of rolling ridges, with an elevation of about 1,200 ft. to about 3,000 ft. The northern portion consists of rather dry rocky ridges, with a good deal of waste ground. The southern portion is also ridgy land, but is fairly well grassed by tussock and native grasses. The homestead is at Little Valley, which lies about nine miles from Alexandra on a formed road. There is plenty of water or stock in the various creeks.
Run 567 (Class A): Area, 21,430 acres; term, twenty-one years; half-yearly rental, £110; valuation for improvements, £382 1s. (fencing).
The successful applicant will be required to take a license (expiring at the same time as the run license) over the homestead-site on Galloway Settlement. Area, 88 acres 2 roods; half-yearly rental, £12 7s. 6d.
This run has a frontage to Little Valley, where the best homestead-site lies. The back or southern ridges are well clad with native grasses and tussock. The northern ridges are broken and rocky, but are somewhat warmer than the back country. There is a good supply of water in the larger gullies and creeks. The homestead-site is about nine to ten miles from Alexandria on a formed road. The elevation ranges from about 1,200 ft. to 2,900 ft. above-sea-level.
Run 568 (Class A): Area, 11,240 acres; term, twenty-one years; half-yearly rental, £50; valuation for improvements, £46 (fencing).
The run consists of a number of rather dry, rocky ridges overlooking the Clutha River. The native vegetation has disappeared to some extent from the lower faces. The farther-back parts are not well supplied with permanent water, but at present a mining water-race gives the run a good general water-supply for stock. There is not a very good homestead-site on this run. The elevation is from about 500 ft. to above 2,500 ft.
Areas, rentals, and valuations are approximate, and subject to slight alteration upon completion of survey.
Immediate possession will be given.
