trustees of such fund: And whereas application, in writing addressed to the Minister, has been made by the Hauraki District Comforts Committee (being a society possessing a war fund), praying for the incorporation of that society: And whereas it is considered desirable to grant such application:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the society known as the Hauraki District Comforts Committee is hereby incorporated for the purposes of the said Act as from the publication hereof in the New Zealand Gazette, and shall be known as the Hauraki District Comforts Committee.

Transfer of Mataura Local Relief Fund to the Southland War Funds Association, incorporated under the War Funds Act, 1915.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this ninth day of August, 1916.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS by section thirteen of the War Funds Act, 1915 (hereinafter referred to as “the said Act”), it is provided that any person, society, or trustees (whether such society or trustees are incorporated or not) having control of any war fund may, with the consent of the Governor in Council, transfer such fund to any other society or trustees incorporated pursuant to section twelve of the said Act, to be applied by such last-mentioned society or trustees for the purposes for which such last-mentioned society or trustees were incorporated, notwithstanding that such purposes may not be identical with the purposes for which the fund to be transferred was established; provided that consent shall not be given to any application under this section unless the Governor in Council is satisfied that the fund to be transferred can be administered by the incorporated society or trustees for substantially the same purposes as those for which the fund was established: And whereas an application has been made by John Lowden and F. W. Brown, of Mataura, the trustees of the fund known as the Mataura Local Relief Fund, for the consent of the Governor in Council to the transfer of such fund to the Southland War Funds Association: And whereas the Governor in Council is satisfied that such fund can be administered by the Southland War Funds Association for substantially the same purposes as those for which that fund was established: And whereas it is considered desirable to consent to such transfer:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the power and authority vested in him by the said Act, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby consent to the transfer of the said Mataura Local Relief Fund to the Southland War Funds Association.

Validating Proceedings in Connection with a Loan of £650 proposed to be raised by the Council of the County of Piako.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this ninth day of August, 1916.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the Piako County Council lately proposed to raise a loan of six hundred and fifty pounds, under the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, for the purpose of completing the drainage-works in the Piakoiti Special-drainage District:

And whereas the special roll of the ratepayers interested, although prepared, completed, and deposited for public inspection, was not deposited for public inspection before any steps were taken to raise the loan, as required by section seventeen of the above-mentioned Act:

And whereas it appears that the said ratepayers have not been misled by such irregularity or defect, and it is expedient to validate the aforesaid proceedings:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred by section one hundred and eleven of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, doth validate the proceedings taken to raise the above loan; and doth hereby declare that the said proceedings shall be valid to all intents and purposes as though the same had been carried out in the proper manner, and that the proceedings in connection with the said loan shall not be called in question by reason only of the irregularity aforesaid.

Vesting a Reserve in the Corporation of the City of Wellington.

ORDER IN COUNCIL.

At the Government House at Wellington, this thirty-first day of July, 1916.

Present:

HIS EXCELLENCY THE GOVERNOR IN COUNCIL.

WHEREAS the land described in the Schedule hereto has been duly set apart as a reserve for the growth and preservation of timber and water-supply purposes: And whereas, in the opinion of the Governor, it is expedient to vest the said reserve in the Corporation of the City of Wellington:

Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the said Dominion, and in exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon him by section four of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, doth hereby declare that, from and after the day of the date hereof, the reserve described in the Schedule hereto shall become vested in the Corporation of the City of Wellington, in trust, as a reserve for the growth and preservation of timber and water-supply purposes.


SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 5,220 acres, more or less, situated in Block XVII, Belmont Survey District, Blocks VIII, X, and XI, Rimutaka Survey District, and Block II, Onoke Survey District, and bounded as follows: Commencing at a point on the main Rimutaka Range distant about eighty chains in a south-westerly direction from Trig. Station Orongorongo, where it is intersected by the south-eastern boundary-line of a forest and water reserve described on page 1337 of the Gazette for 19th November, 1885; thence towards the north-east and south-east generally by the main Rimutaka Range to the northern boundary of Pencarrow Survey District; towards the south by the northern boundary aforesaid to a point where it is intersected by the production in a south-easterly direction of the south-western boundary of the forest and water reserve aforesaid; towards the south-west by that production; and towards the north-west by the forest and water reserve aforesaid to the place of commencement.

Also all that area in the Wellington Land District, containing 43 acres, more or less, situated in Block IX, Rimutaka Survey District. Bounded towards the north-west by Section 13A, Block VI, Rimutaka Survey District, from its southernmost corner to the summit of the main Rimutaka Range; towards the east generally by the summit of that range; and towards the south-west by a forest and water reserve described on page 1337 of Gazette for 19th November, 1885, to the place of commencement.

As the same are delineated on a plan marked L. and S. 7437, deposited at the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wellington, and thereon bordered red.

Ophthalmia Neonatorum declared to be an Infectious Disease.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance of section twelve of the Public Health Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare the disease called or known as ophthalmia neonatorum to be an infectious disease within the meaning of the said Act.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this third day of August, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
