Notice of Intention to take Land in Block II, Taramarama Survey District, for Road Purposes.

NOTICE is hereby given that it is proposed, under the provisions of the Public Works Act, 1908, to execute a certain public work—to wit, the construction of a road in Block II, Taramarama Survey District; and for the purposes of such public work the land described in the Schedule hereto is required to be taken. And notice is hereby further given that the plan of the land so required to be taken is deposited in the post-office at Frasertown, and is there open for inspection; and that all persons affected by the execution of the said public work or by the taking of the said land should, if they have any well-grounded objections to the execution of the said public work or to the taking of such land, set forth the same in writing, and send such writing, within forty days from the first publication of this notice, to the Minister of Public Works at Wellington.

SCHEDULE.

APPROXIMATE area of the piece of land required to be taken: 7 acres 1 rood 11 perches.

Being Whataroa Block (Poverty Bay R.D.), Block II, Taramarama Survey District.

In the Hawke’s Bay Land District; as the same is more particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 40195, deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and thereon coloured pink.

Results of Polls for Proposed Loans.

THE following notices, received from the Council of the Borough of Hastings, are published in accordance with the provisions of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913.

HASTINGS BOROUGH COUNCIL.

Result of Poll, £8,800.

Notice is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Hastings, including all other persons entitled to vote on proposals to raise loans, was duly taken on Wednesday, the 19th day of July, 1916, upon the following proposal:—

A proposal to borrow by way of special loan within the meaning of the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, and under the authority of the Municipal Corporations Act, 1908, and its amendments, the sum of £8,800, to be expended for the following purposes, namely—

For the purchase and installation of a new Diesel engine and generator, switchboard and instruments, fuel-tank with motor, pump, and piping, engine lathe and chuck, extensions to power-station building, foundation for and cost of erecting plant .. 8,120
Contingencies and cost of raising the loan .. 680

The Council propose to pledge a special rate of ¼d. in the pound on the rateable value, on the basis of the unimproved value, of all rateable property in the borough as security for the said loan and the interest thereon, and for a sinking fund of 1 per cent. The interest will be at a rate not exceeding 5½ per centum per annum.

It is proposed that the whole amount of the loan shall be repayable at the expiration of a term not exceeding thirty-six years and a half, computed from the date of raising the said loan.

It is proposed to pay out of the loan the cost of raising the loan.

It is not proposed to pay out of the loan the interest and sinking fund for the first year.

And at such poll the number of votes recorded was: For the proposal, 406; against the proposal, 124; informal votes, 16.

I do therefore hereby declare the said proposal carried.

Notice is hereby given that a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Hastings, including all other persons entitled to vote on proposals to raise loans, was duly taken on Wednesday, the 19th day of July, 1916, upon the following proposal:—

Result of Poll.

The following is the result of poll held on the 30th May, 1916, on proposal to raise a loan of £1,500 to repay unpaid balance due on Manaia Town Hall Special Loan, and to make alterations and additions to the town hall: For the proposal, 59; against the proposal, 14; informal, 1.

I therefore declare the proposal duly carried.
