Applications invited for the Position of Inspector of Machinery (2nd Grade), Marine and Inspection of Machinery Department, Wellington.

The position will be graded in the General Division. Salary, £200 per annum.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 10th August, 1916, for the position of Inspector of Machinery, Marine and Inspection of Machinery Department, Wellington.

  1. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  2. The qualifications essential for the position are—
    (a.) An apprenticeship of not less than five years as an engineer.
    (b.) The possession of a seagoing certificate as first-class engineer.
    (c.) (1.) Five years’ service as Chief Engineer of a seagoing steamer; or
    (2.) Two years’ service as Chief Engineer of a seagoing steamer over 1,000 tons gross tonnage; or
    (3.) One year’s service as Chief Engineer and two years’ service as Second Engineer of a seagoing steamer over 1,000 tons gross tonnage.

  3. The successful applicant must himself bear the cost of proceeding to Wellington.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

The position will be graded in the Professional Division. Salary, £325.

Applications invited for the Position of Milk-tester, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Piopio.

APPLICATIONS will be received by the undersigned up till noon on the 14th August, 1916, for the position of Milk-tester, Department of Agriculture, Industries, and Commerce, Piopio.

  1. Applications (to be made on P.S.C. Form 17A, obtainable at principal post-offices) must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

  2. Applicants must—
    (a.) Be thoroughly acquainted with and have had experience in the testing of milk by the Babcock method;
    (b.) Write a good hand, be quick and accurate at figures, and understand the computing of milk and butter-fat returns;
    (c.) Be able to milk and handle cows efficiently.

The appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.
