Declaring Crown Lands in the Karamea Mining District,
Nelson Land District, open for Disposal on Renewable
Lease.

A PROCLAMATION.
WHEREAS by section one hundred and thirty-three of
the Land Act, 1908, it is enacted that the Governor,
by Proclamation may from time to time declare any Crown
lands within any mining district not held under lease or
license, or for which a lease or license has been cancelled,
to be open for disposal, as provided in section one hundred
and thirty-five of the said Act :
Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
in exercise of the power and authority conferred upon me by
section one hundred and thirty-three of the said Act, and of
every other power and authority in anywise enabling me in
this behalf, do hereby proclaim and declare that the sections
of land described in the Schedule hereto shall be open on
Wednesday, the thirteenth day of September, one thousand
nine hundred and sixteen, for disposal on renewable lease,
as provided in section one hundred and thirty-five of the said
Act; and I do also declare that for the purpose of section
one hundred and twenty-seven of the said Act the sections of
land described in the Schedule hereto shall be deemed to be
heavy-bush land.
And I do hereby provide that, after the first half-year's
rent has been paid by the selector, the further instalments of
rent payable by him for a period of four years shall not be
demanded; provided that if at any time during the first five
years of his occupancy the selector disposes of his interest in
the land the rent so conceded shall be paid by him in full,
and thereupon the Land Board may remit such instalments
of rent payable by the incoming tenant, not exceeding in the
aggregate the amount of rent previously conceded to the
selector, as the Board thinks fit.

SCHEDULE.
NELSON LAND DISTRICT. — BULLER COUNTY. — KARAMEA
MINING DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS HEAVY-BUSH LAND.
(Exempt from Rent for Four Years.)
Otumahana Survey District.
Section 21,* Block IX: Area, 200 acres; capital value,
£210; half-yearly rent, £4 4s.
Fronts main Karamea-Seddonville Road. About 70 acres
flat, good soil, papa and limestone formation; balance
undulating and hilly, fair soil, papa formation; well watered.
All forest, consisting of red and white pine, few matai and
birch, mixed undergrowth. About a mile and three-quarters
from Te Namu Post-office and two miles and a half from a
school.
Section 22,* Block IX: Area, 370 acres; capital value,
£280; half-yearly rent, £5 12s.
Accessible by pack-track, sixty chains from main Karamea-
Seddonville Road. About 25 acres small flats, fair soil,
along Harvey’s Creek; remainder hilly; well watered. All
forest, consisting chiefly of mixed birch, with a few pine;
mixed undergrowth. About two miles and a half from
Te Namu Post-office and three miles and a quarter from a
school.
Section 23,* Block IX: Area, 178 acres; capital value,
£190; half-yearly rent, £3 16s.
Fronts main Karamea-Seddonville Road. About 50 acres
flat land, good soil, papa and limestone formation; balance
undulating to hilly; well watered. All forest, consisting of
red and white pine, few matai and birch; mixed under-
growth. About two miles and three-quarters from Te Namu
Post-office and three miles and a half from a school.

Section 26, Block III: Area, 436 acres; capital value,
£390; half-yearly rent, £7 16s.
Section 27, Block III: Area, 449 acres; capital value,
£360; half-yearly rent, £7 4s,
