THE NEW ZEALAND GAZETTE.

Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
acting by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby prohibit, for the
period of one year from the date of this Order in Council, all
alienations of the Native lands specified in the Schedule
hereto other than alienations in favour of the Crown.

Opening Lands in Marlborough Land District for Sale or
Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of
the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare
that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be
open for sale or selection on Monday, the fourteenth day of
August, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen; and also
that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at
the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be
selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renew-
able lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the
said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in
the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands
shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the
provisions of the Land Act, 1908.
SCHEDULE.
MARLBOROUGH LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
Marlborough County.—Mount Olympus Survey District.
SECTION 41, Block IV: Area, 8 acres 1 rood 19 perches. Ap-
proximate annual rent per acre, 10s. Capital value, £85.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 2s. 6d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 14s.
Level section. Situated close to Hillersden Settlement in
Wairau Valley, about twenty-three miles from Blenheim by
good motor-road. Close to post-office, school, and store.
Soil well adapted for grazing and agricultural purposes.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Marlborough County.—Tennyson Survey District.
Section 2, Block III: Area, 730 acres. Approximate annual
rent per acre, 1s. 2d. Capital value, £880. Occupation with
right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £22. Renewable lease:
Half-yearly rent, £17 12s.
Situated on Tunakino Road, about six miles from Tima-
tanga Post-office. Varies from easy spurs and slopes in heavy
mixed bush to inferior steep spurs in light birch bush. Con-
tains patches of fair soil. Lies fairly well to the sun. Altitude,
220 ft. to 2,800 ft.
Sounds County.—Arapawa Survey District.
Section 9, Block I: Area, 106 acres 1 rood 16 perches. Ap-
proximate annual rent per acre, 1s. Capital value, £110.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 15s.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 4s.
Weighted with £90, valuation for improvements (£80 for
clearing and £10 for house).
Access by water, about an hour’s run by launch from Picton.
Has a fair frontage, though generally is steep and broken, and
somewhat shady in the winter. Soil fair. About 80 acres
cleared and sown in grass, but is in a neglected condition.
Altitude, sea-level to 1,400 ft.

this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand nine
hundred and sixteen.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Nelson Land District
for Selection on Renewable Lease.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of
the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the
national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto
shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Wednesday,
the thirteenth day of September, one thousand nine hundred
and sixteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule;
and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under
and subject to the provisions of the said Act.
SCHEDULE.
MURCHISON COUNTY.—WESTLAND MINING DISTRICT.—
SECOND-CLASS LIGHT-BUSH LAND.
(Exempt from Rent for Three Years.)
Matakitaki Survey District.
SECTION 4, Block II: Area, 795 acres; capital value, £400;
half-yearly rent, £8.
Several small flats on road frontage, where slopes are fairly
easy. Back country rough soil, good on road frontage, poor
on hills, sandstone formation; all covered with forest con-
sisting of red and brown birch, with heavy undergrowth of
five-finger, horopito, &c.; well watered. Altitude, 850 ft. to
3,400 ft. About fourteen miles from Murchison by good
metalled dray-road.
Section 7, Block II: Area, 159 acres; capital value, £160;
half-yearly rent, £3 4s.
All flat, with the exception of a high terrace running through
the section. Good soil, river-silt and gravel; all covered
with forest consisting of red and brown birch, with heavy
undergrowth of five-finger, horopito, &c.; well watered.
Altitude, 720 ft. to 850 ft. About fourteen miles and a half
from Murchison by good metalled dray-road.
Tutaki Survey District.
Section 7, Block XIV: Area, 557 acres; capital value, £280;
half-yearly rent, £5 12s.
About 50 acres flat, mainly on river-bank, which is partly
open country and liable to floods at times. Portion east of
road mostly rough hills. Soil river-wash on flats, balance
sandstone; all covered with forest consisting of brown and
red birch, with a few odd pines and heavy undergrowth of
birch scrub, horopito, and five-finger; well watered. Altitude,
800 ft. to 3,007 ft. About twelve miles and a half from
Murchison by good metalled dray-road.

this twenty-ninth day of June, one thousand
nine hundred and sixteen.
