NOTICE is hereby given that the Partnership heretofore existing between the undersigned as Butchers, under the style or firm of “Grant & Seaton,” has been dissolved by mutual consent as from this date by the retirement of William Simmonds Grant. Mrs. A. W. GRANT and THOMAS SEATON will continue to carry on the business under the same style as heretofore, and will collect all moneys due to and will discharge all liabilities due by the late firm.

GISBORNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

SPECIAL ORDER AUTHORIZING THE RAISING OF A SPECIAL DISTRICT LOAN OF £4,000 (OLD BOROUGH).

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Gisborne Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of paying off to the Bank of New Zealand Officers’ Guarantee and Provident Association the sum of £4,500 heretofore lawfully borrowed by it, the Gisborne Borough Council (for and on behalf of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gisborne), under the authority of the above-mentioned Act, is hereby authorized to raise a special loan of £4,000, or such lesser sum as may be actually required, at a rate of interest not to exceed £5½ per centum per annum, together with a sinking fund of 1 per cent. per annum; and that the security to be offered for the due repayment of such loan and the interest and sinking fund thereon shall be a special rate of 5/64ths of a penny in the pound sterling upon the rateable value of all rateable property within that part of the Borough of Gisborne.”

Passed at a special meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council held on the 9th May, 1916, and confirmed at a properly constituted meeting of the said Council held on the 6th June, 1916.

We hereby certify that the above special order has been duly made.

GISBORNE BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—OLD GISBORNE BOROUGH SPECIAL DISTRICT LOAN, 1916, OF £4,000.

AT a duly convened meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council held on the 6th day of June, 1916, in pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Gisborne Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

“That, for the purpose of providing the interest and other charges on a loan of £4,000, authorized to be raised by the Gisborne Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, by special order, and called the Old Gisborne Borough Special District Loan of £4,000 for Derby Street Bridge, for repaying a loan maturing on the 30th June, 1916, the said Gisborne Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of 5/64ths of a penny in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property of the Old Gisborne Borough District Special-rating Area, commencing at a point distant 400 links from the left bank of the Turanganui River; thence to the north-east generally by a line 400 links distant from and running parallel to the left bank of the Turanganui River, and by that line continued along a line 400 links distant from and running parallel to high-water mark of the sea, to the north-western boundary-line of Section 322, Kaiti Block; thence towards the south-east by the last-mentioned boundary-line and that boundary-line produced to high-water mark of the sea; thence towards the south-west generally by line along the high-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the south-eastern boundary-line of Section No. 345, Kaiti Block; and thence by a right line bearing north 30 deg. west to the high-water mark of the sea; thence again towards the south by the high-water mark of the sea to a point in line with the north-eastern boundary-line of Section 1625 (Awapuni Block), Blocks VI and II, Turanganui Survey District; thence towards the south-west by a right line to and thence by the said north-eastern boundary-line of the said Section No. 1A to the right bank of the Waikanae River; and thence towards the north-west of the said right bank of the Waikanae River to a point in line with the western side of Lytton Road, in the Borough of Gisborne; thence towards the west in a right line to and thence by the said western side of Lytton Road and that line produced across the Taruheru River in a northerly direction and continued to a point at the left bank of the said Taruheru River; thence towards the north by a line running along the left bank of the said Taruheru River to the north-western boundary-line of Section No. 144 of part C of Whataupoko No. 6 Block; thence again towards the north-west by the north-western boundary-line to a point 200 links distance and measured along the last-mentioned line from the left bank of the said Taruheru River; thence towards the south-east generally by a line 200 links distant from and running parallel to the said left bank of the Taruheru River to Ormond Road; thence along Ormond Road and across the William Pettie Bridge to a point 200 links distant from the said bank of the Turanganui River on the northern boundary of Section 88, Kaiti; thence towards the south by a line 200 links distant from and running parallel to the said left bank of the Turanganui River to the boundary-line of Section 345, and along its eastern boundary for a distance of 200 links to the point of commencement within the Borough of Gisborne. And that such special rate shall be an annually recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the 1st day of January and the 1st day of July in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of ten years, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Gisborne was hereto affixed by order of the Gisborne Borough Council on the 6th day of June, 1916, in the presence of—

GREEN ISLAND BOROUGH COUNCIL.

RESOLUTION MAKING SPECIAL RATE.—PASSED AT A MEETING OF THE COUNCIL HELD ON THE 5TH DAY OF JUNE, 1916.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers vested in it in that behalf by the Local Bodies’ Loans Act, 1913, the Green Island Borough Council hereby resolves as follows :—

That, for the purpose of providing the interest, sinking fund, and other charges on a loan of eight hundred and fifty pounds, authorized to be raised by the Green Island Borough Council, under the above-mentioned Act, for the purposes of the installation of electric lighting within the borough, the said the Green Island Borough Council hereby makes and levies a special rate of one penny (1d.) in the pound upon the rateable value of all rateable property in the Borough of Green Island; and that such special rate shall be an annual-recurring rate during the currency of such loan, and be payable half-yearly on the fourteenth day of May and the fourteenth day of November in each and every year during the currency of such loan, being a period of fifteen years from 31st March, 1916, or until the loan is fully paid off.

The common seal of the Mayor, Councillors, and Burgesses of the Borough of Green Island was hereunto affixed in attestation that the foregoing is a true copy of the resolution
