Notice fixing the Closing-hours of Shops carrying on the Combined Trade of selling Bread, Cakes, and Pastry in the Borough of Newmarket, under the Shops and Offices Act.

WHEREAS a requisition in writing, signed by a majority of the occupiers of the shops carrying on the combined trade of selling bread, cakes, and pastry in the Borough of Newmarket, has been forwarded to me, desiring that all such shops in the borough shall be closed in the evening of working-days as follows: 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; 9.30 p.m. on Fridays; 10.30 p.m. on Saturdays; 11 p.m. on the evening preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; 9.30 p.m. on the evening preceding any other public holiday:

And whereas the Newmarket Borough Council has certified that the signatures to such requisition represent a majority of the occupiers of shops carrying on the combined trade of selling bread, cakes, and pastry within the Borough of Newmarket:

Now, therefore, I, William Ferguson Massey, Minister of Labour, in pursuance of section 25 of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, do hereby direct that on and after the 19th day of June, 1916, all shops carrying on the combined trade of selling bread, cakes, and pastry in the Borough of Newmarket shall be closed as follows: 7 p.m. on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays; 9.30 p.m. on Fridays; 10.30 p.m. on Saturdays; 11 p.m. on the evening preceding Christmas Day and New Year’s Day; and 9.30 p.m. on the evening preceding any other day generally observed as a public holiday in the Borough of Newmarket.

Consent under Section 298 of the Native Land Act, 1909.

IN pursuance of the power conferred upon the Native Minister by subsection (b) of section 298 of the Native Land Act, 1909, I, William Herbert Herries, Native Minister, acting on the recommendation of the Waiariki District Maori Land Board, do hereby consent to a sale of Matapihi No. 1A No. 1A Block, containing 1 acre 2 roods, situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, subject to the same restrictions and to the same requirements as to confirmation and otherwise as if the land was not subject to Part XVI of the Native Land Act, 1909.

As witness my hand this 6th day of June, 1916.

Consent under Section 298 of the Native Land Act, 1909.

IN pursuance of the power conferred upon the Native Minister by subsection (b) of section 298 of the Native Land Act, 1909, I, William Herbert Herries, Native Minister, acting on the recommendation of the Waiariki District Maori Land Board, do hereby consent to a sale of Katikati Lot 99E No. 4 Block, containing 30 acres 3 roods, situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, subject to the same restrictions and to the same requirements as to confirmation and otherwise as if the land was not subject to Part XVI of the Native Land Act, 1909.

Goods prohibited to be imported to the United Kingdom.

Wellington, 12th June, 1916.

IT is hereby notified, for public information, that the following additions have been made to the list of goods prohibited to be imported (except under license) to the United Kingdom (see list dated 30th May, 1916, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of 1st June, 1916):

Aluminium manufactures.
Baths of metal.
Beer.
Carpet-sweepers.
Cash-registers.
Hops.
Lawn-mowers.
Leather manufactures other than belting.
Boots, shoes, and gloves.
Matches.
Sewing-machines.
Stoves and ranges.
Toilet articles containing glycerine.
Wringers and mangles.

The following should be deleted from the list dated 30th May, 1916:

Starch.
Dextrine.
Farina and potato flour.

With regard to the exemption from the prohibition of fruits which are the produce of the British Dominions, exporters are informed that every invoice for dried, canned, bottled, preserved, or fresh fruit (being New Zealand produce exported to the United Kingdom) must bear a certificate in the following form signed by and bearing the official stamp of a Collector of Customs:

This is to certify that the fruit specified in this invoice is the produce of New Zealand.

With regard to tobacco produced in the British Dominions, licenses allowing importation to the United Kingdom will not be issued unless a certificate is produced similar to that required for fruit. In the case of tobacco, this certificate should be forwarded as promptly as possible to the consignee, to enable him to submit proof to the Licensing Committee that the particular consignment has in fact originated in the British Dominions, or has been manufactured in such Dominions from imported leaf.

It is further notified that licenses will be granted by the Board of Trade for the importation of goods sent by post for repairs and return to New Zealand.

Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of Stores.

Wellington, 13th June, 1916.

SEPARATE tenders will be received at the office of the Chairman, not later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 5th July, 1916, for the supply and delivery of 2 tons twine, Manila, 2-ply; and 2,000 ironbark blocks.

Particulars and conditions of tendering may be obtained at the office of the Controller of Stores, Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington; the District Storekeeper, Post and Telegraph Department, Christchurch; or at the offices of the Telegraph Engineers at Auckland and Dunedin.

Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.—Declaration by the Registrar dissolving a Society.

I, ROBERT EDWARD HAYES, Registrar of Incorporated Societies, do hereby declare that, as it has been made to appear to me that the Devonport District Band is no longer carrying on its operations and has no assets, the aforesaid society is hereby dissolved in pursuance of section 28 of the Incorporated Societies Act, 1908.
