The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the Local Lands and Survey Office, Gisborne, on Monday, 17th July, 1916, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

SCHEDULE.

HAWKE’S BAY LAND DISTRICT.—COOK COUNTY.—BLOCK XV, WAIKOHU SURVEY DISTRICT.—NGATAPA SETTLEMENT.

First-class Land.

SECTIONS 16, 17, 18, and 19 : Area, 18 acres 3 roods 26 perches. Capital value, £460. Annual instalment on deferred payment (without interest), £23. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £10 7s.

Thirteen acres of good alluvial flat, the remainder consisting of a low ploughable hill. In English and native grass. Intersected by a small stream, which in summer becomes dry on the surface. Altitude, about 150 ft. to 250 ft. above sea-level. Eighteen miles from Gisborne by railway and by good metalled road.

Sections 15 and 21 : Area, 49 acres 0 roods 7 perches. Capital value, £710. Annual instalment on deferred payment (without interest), £35 10s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £15 19s. 6d.

Eight acres and a half good alluvial flat and 2½ acres swamp. The remainder of the section consists of hill and terrace land of good quality, of which about 10 acres is ploughable. With the exception of a few small patches of scattered manuka the whole of the land is in English and native grass. Intersected by a small stream, which in summer becomes dry on the surface. Altitude, 150 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Eighteen miles and a half from Gisborne by railway and by good metalled road.

Section 22 : Area, 50 acres 0 roods 23 perches. Capital value, £725. Annual instalment on deferred payment (without interest), £36 5s. Renewable lease : Half-yearly rent, £16 6s. 3d.

Ten acres and a half of good alluvial flat land, the remainder consisting of low hills of good quality. In English and native grass, with a few acres of light scattered mixed bush and manuka. There are no permanent streams. Altitude, 150 ft. to 350 ft. above sea-level. Eighteen miles and a half from Gisborne by railway and by good metalled road.

IMPROVEMENTS.

The improvements which are included in the price of the land are as follows : Sections 16 to 19, Block XV, Waikohu Survey District, fencing valued at £9 15s. Sections 15 and 21, Block XV, Waikohu Survey District, fencing valued at £52 18s. 9d. Section 22, Block XV, Waikohu Survey District, fencing valued at £33 7s. 6d.

NELSON LAND DISTRICT.

ALL that area in the Nelson Land District, containing by estimation 1,092 acres, more or less, and situated in Block XIV, Oparara Survey District. Bounded towards the north generally by Section 15 and a road along the left bank of the Karamea River ; towards the east generally by a road, a cemetery reserve (Section 61), Section 14, and part of 557 acres of land for disposal described in the New Zealand Gazette of the 2nd October, 1913, page 2943 ; towards the south by other part of the said 557 acres ; and towards the west generally by Sections 2, 3, 4, 83, a map school reserve, a road, Section 23, and again by a road : excepting the road one chain wide which intersects the land included within the above-described boundaries.
