Minister's Decisions under Customs Duties Act.
Customs Department, Wellington, 7th June, 1916.
IT is hereby notified for public information that the Hon. the Minister of Customs has decided to interpret the Customs Duties Act in relation to the undermentioned articles as follows:—
NOTE.—“Not otherwise enumerated” appears as n.o.e.; “other kinds” as o.k.; “articles and materials suited only for, and to be used solely in, the fabrication of goods in the Dominion” as a. & m.s. Articles marked thus † are revised decisions.

Notice to Mariners No. 42 of 1916.
AUCKLAND HARBOUR.—ERECTION OF LIGHTED BEACON OFF BASTION REEF.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 29th May, 1916.
THE Auckland Harbour Board have notified that they are erecting off the Bastion Reef a four-pile wooden beacon painted black, to be surmounted by a Wigham lantern showing a fixed white light. The position of the beacon will be N. 16° W. magnetic 400 ft. from the black beacon on the end of the reef, off the Bastion.
The beacon is to be 9 ft. above H.W. level, and the light should show for a distance of five miles.

Notice to Mariners No. 45 of 1916.
SUNKEN ROCK OFF TIRITIRI ISLAND, HAURAKI GULF.

Wellington, N.Z., 5th June, 1916.
CAPTAIN BOLLONS, of the Government s.s. “Hinemoa,” reports that a sunken rock with only 25 ft. of water over it exists 1½° east of south extreme of Tiritiri Island. The rock is in position of outer eastern ten-fathoms patch shown on Chart 1998v, 1914. From the rock south-east extreme of Tiritiri bears 268° (S. 73° W. magnetic) and Shag Rock (20 ft. rock) 317° (N. 58° W. magnetic) M.L.W.S.

Notice to Mariners No. 46 of 1916.
WRECK OFF EAST CAPE.
Marine Department,
Wellington, N.Z., 6th June, 1916.
NOTICE is hereby given that Captain Fletcher, of the s.s. “Ruru,” has located the position of the wreck of the s.s. “Squall” in 11 fathoms of water, about one mile north magnetic of East Island Lighthouse. The following bearings from the wreck locate the position, viz.:—
Te Wharekaokao, 274° (S. 79° W. magnetic).
East Cape, 235° (S. 39½° W. magnetic).
East Island Lighthouse, 194° (S. 1° E. magnetic).

STRAIT OF GEORGIA.—FRASER RIVER ENTRANCE.—NORTH ARM.—BEACONS DISCONTINUED.—In consequence of the building of the jetty on the southern side of the channel at the entrance to the north arm of the Fraser River, the dolphins marking the channel have become unnecessary, and the following have been discontinued:—
Dolphins Nos. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 8; Pile No. 7; range beacons.

SAN FRANCISCO BAY APPROACH.—SAN FRANCISCO LIGHT-VESSEL REPLACED ON STATION.—RELIEF LIGHT-VESSEL WITHDRAWN.—Notice is given that on 13th April, 1916, San Francisco Light-vessel was replaced on her station and the relief light-vessel temporarily marking the station was withdrawn.
Approx. position: Lat. 37° 45′ 3″ N., long. 122° 41′ 30″ W.
