Opening Lands in Auckland Land District for Sale or Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for sale or selection on Monday, the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen; and also that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on renewable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
FIRST-CLASS LAND.
West Taupo County.—Puniu Survey District.
Section 17, Block V: Area, 121 acres 1 rood 33 perches. Rent per acre per annum, 3s. 9d. Capital value, £455. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £11 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £9 2s.
Section 18, Block V: Area, 25 acres 1 rood 3 perches. Rent per acre per annum, 3s. 6d. Capital value, £90. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 16s.
Level to undulating land, nearly all ploughable, covered with fern, manuka, and tutu. Soil of good quality; Section 17 fairly watered by swamps; no water on Section 18. About three miles from Te Mawhai Railway-station by good formed road.
SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Hokianga County.—Waoku Survey District.
Section 30, Block XVI: Area, 221 acres 3 roods. Rent per acre per annum, 3½d. Capital value, £140. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £3 10s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 16s.
Altitude, 1,500 ft. to 2,000 ft. above sea-level. Undulating and hilly country, covered with heavy mixed forest comprising rata, rimu, towai, miro, maire, toro, &c., with dense undergrowth of kohutuhutu, hangehange, raurekau, karamu, punga, kiekie, supplejack, toikiwi, &c. Soil of inferior quality, clayey loam and sandy clay, on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams. Twenty miles from Kaihu Railway-station, or eighteen miles and a half from Taheke, by formed wagon-road in each case.
Waitemata County.—Pukeatua Parish.
Section 58: Area, 47 acres 3 roods 6 perches. Rent per acre per annum, 2s. Capital value, £95. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 18s.
Altitude, 30 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating fern and scrub land, three-fourths ploughable. Grey soil, of a stiff loamy nature, fair to good in quality, on clay subsoil; water can only be obtained by sinking. Four miles from Kaukapakapa by good cart-road.
Waitemata County.—Paremoremo Parish.
Section 309: Area, 12 acres 3 roods 15 perches. Rent per acre per annum, 8s. 6d. Capital value, £110. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 4s.
Section 310: Area, 14 acres 1 rood 16 perches. Rent per acre per annum, 8s. 6d. Capital value, £120. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £3. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 8s.
Section 312: Area, 14 acres 2 roods 31 perches. Rent per acre per annum, 9s. Capital value, £130. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £3 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £2 12s.
Altitude, 50 ft. to 220 ft. above sea-level. Sloping and level country, all ploughable, covered with light manuka and fern. Brown soil, fair to good in quality, on clay subsoil; water can only be obtained by sinking. Two miles from Albany by good cart-road.
Waitemata County.—Pukeatua Parish.
Section N.E. 126: Area, 36 acres. Rent per acre per annum, 1s. 6d. Capital value, £55. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £1 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 2s.
Altitude, 40 ft. to 200 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, practically all ploughed, covered with manuka and fern. Loamy grey and brown soil, medium to good in quality, on clay subsoil; well watered by stream. Between three and four miles from Silverdale by fair cart-road.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.
Whangamomona County.—Mahoe Survey District.
Section 8, Block XI: Area, 897 acres. Rent per acre per annum, 1s. 6d. Capital value, £1,350. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £33 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £27.
Situated on the Tahunaroa Road, about a mile from the Wanganui River, where there is a landing-stage and cargo-shed. Access from Whangamomona Railway-station about fifteen miles distant—by dray-road for about twelve miles, bridle-track remaining distance. Comprises broken and undulating country with steep sidings; small tableland suitable for homestead-site in the north-western corner near road. In the north-eastern corner near road there are the remains of an old burn, with some towai growing thereon; balance is covered with a heavy forest of tawa, tawhero, rata, rimu, &c., and a dense undergrowth of mahoe, kotukutuku, karamu, raurekau, hoho, pongas, supplejacks, kiekie, &c. The soil is of good quality, on papa formation; well watered.
Whangamomona County.—Pouatu Survey District.
Section 7, Block VII: Area, 391 acres 2 roods. Rent per acre per annum, 1s. 6d. Capital value, £590. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £14 15s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £11 16s.
Section 1, Block VIII: Area, 774 acres. Rent per acre per annum, 1s. 3d. Capital value, £970. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £24 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £19 8s.
Situated on the Raekohua and Tangarakau Roads. Access from proposed Raekohua Railway-station at Tahora, from three miles to four miles and a quarter distant—one mile dray-road, balance pack-track. Later on there will be a railway-station where the Raekohua Road joins the Tangarakau. Comprise broken country, with small flats along streams; about 35 acres flat on Section 1. Covered with heavy forest of tawa, rimu, rata, hinau, miro, kahikatea, tawhero, towai, rewarewa, pukatea, &c., and a dense undergrowth of mahoe, raurekau, konini, karamu, supplejacks, makomako, hoho, pongas, pitau, kiekie, tupari, &c. Soil of fair to good quality resting on sandstone and papa formation, and the section is well watered. Elevation ranges from 420 ft. to 1,650 ft. above sea-level.
Section 9, Block VII: Area, 1,255 acres. Rent per acre per annum, 1s. 3d. Capital value, £1,570. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £39 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £31 8s.
Situated on the Tangarakau Stream and Road. Access from proposed Raekohua Railway-station at Tahora, about four miles and a half distant—by dray-road for about a mile, good pack-track for about three miles, balance unformed road. Comprises easy slopes on to the south-eastern corner, but the major portion of the section consists of steep
