NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned domain will be offered for lease by public auction, under the provisions of the Public Reserves and Domains Act, 1908, and amendments, at the Town Hall, Whangamomona, on Monday, 29th May, 1916, at 2 o’clock p.m.

TARANAKI LAND DISTRICT.

Town of Tahora.

SECTION 8: Area, 37 perches; upset annual rental, £1; term, seven years.

Section 9: Area, 1 rood 4 perches; upset annual rental, £1; term, seven years.

Section 23: Area, 1 rood; upset annual rental, £1; term, seven years.

Sloping land, in manuka and scrub.

Suburbs of Whangamomona.

Section 6: Area, 9 acres 1 rood 23 perches; upset annual rental, £1 10s.; term, year to year.

Section 11: Area, 18 acres 2 roods 34 perches; upset annual rental, £2; term, year to year.

Comprises principally broken sidlings, fairly heavy forest; good soil. About 3 acres easy country in middle of Section 6, and about 1 acre of the same section has been roughly cleared.

Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Lease to Discharged Soldiers.

District Lands and Survey Office,
Invercargill, 3rd April, 1916.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, 21st June, 1916.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for sixty-six years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of sixty-six years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 22nd June, 1916, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the District Lands and Survey Office, Invercargill, on Thursday, 22nd June, at 2.30 o’clock p.m.

Altitude ranges from about 35 ft. to about 100 ft. above sea-level. All flat bush land, with some low terraces; bush consists of rimu, matai, totara, white-pine, miro, broadleaf, kamahi, birch, &c., partly cut out by sawmilling. The soil is good, consisting of a light deep loam, on gravel subsoil. The sections are bounded on the south-east by a chain reserve along the Waiau River, and well water can also probably be obtained at a moderate depth. Situated from close to Papatotara School, post-office, and store, to about two miles distant; and from two miles to four miles and a half from Tuatapere Railway-station by good gravelled roads.

The right to cut timber on about 80 acres at the back of Section 22 is reserved; the front of the section is lightly timbered, and will not be required for milling purposes. The milling-timber has been partly removed from Sections 19, 20, and 21.

All the sections are subject to existing timber and tramway rights until cancelled by the Land Board.

NOTICE is hereby given that the undermentioned lands are open for sale or lease to discharged soldiers under the Discharged Soldiers Settlement Act, 1915, and the regulations thereunder; and applications will be received at this office up to 4 o’clock p.m. on Wednesday, 14th June, 1916.

The lands may be purchased for cash or on deferred payments, or selected on lease for thirty-three years, with right of renewal for further successive terms of thirty-three years and a right to acquire the freehold.

Applicants must appear personally before the Land Board for examination at the District Lands and Survey Office, Blenheim, on Thursday, 15th June, 1916, at 10 o’clock a.m.

The ballot will be held at the conclusion of the examination of applicants.

Section 8 is distant about two miles from Blenheim Post-office. Access is by good metalled roads for a mile and a quarter, balance by unformed roads. Watered by natural streams, which dry up in summer; but water can be obtained by sinking. The section contains about 60 acres of good agricultural land, level to undulating; balance easy spurs and slopes; all carrying tussock and native grass. Altitude varies from 70 ft. to 900 ft. Fencing valued at £39 10s. is included in the cost of the section.

The western boundaries of Sections 28 and 9 have been fenced, and the successful applicant is liable for half the cost of fencing marked A to B on sale poster.

Improvements included in the prices of the sections consist of fencing, valued as follows: Section 16, £11 4s.; Section 17, £6 6s.; Section 18, £11 11s.; Section 19, £11 11s.; Section 20, £6 6s.; Section 21, £6 6s.; Section 22, £6 6s.; Section 23, £16 16s.; Section 24, £5 5s.; Section 27, £9 15s.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION.

The block forms part of what is known as the Wither Run, and is situated about a mile and a half from Blenheim Post-office. Access is by good metalled road for the greater part of the distance, balance on unformed road. Watered by natural streams, which, however, give out in summer; but water can be obtained by sinking. Sections 16 to 26 are all good agricultural land suitable for fruit-growing, dairying, or lucerne-growing. Section 27 is good agricultural land, suitable for cropping or fruit-growing.
