HIS Excellency the Governor has been pleased to approve of the appointments, promotions, resignations, and transfers of the New Zealand Staff Corps and Territorial Force:—

New Zealand Staff Corps.

The undermentioned officers are attached. Dated 13th February, 1916:—

Captain Samuel Mackay McGee, V.D., Retired List, District Accountant, Canterbury District.

Captain Sydney Vincent Trask, Reserve of Officers, District Accountant, Wellington District.

Honorary Captain Arthur White, District Storekeeper, Canterbury District.

Honorary Captain Owen Paul McGuigan, District Storekeeper, Otago District.

Honorary Lieutenant Robert Henry Williams, Assistant Director of Equipment and Stores.

Honorary Lieutenant Frank Edwin Ford, District Storekeeper, Wellington District.

Douglas Gordon Hunter, District Accountant, Otago District, is granted the honorary rank of Lieutenant, and is attached.

1st Mounted Rifles (Canterbury Yeomanry Cavalry).

Captain Robert Macartney, from the New Zealand Forces Motor Service Corps, to be Captain (temp.). Dated 24th February, 1916.


8th (South Canterbury) Mounted Rifles.

Charles Leslie Orbell to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation), supernumerary to establishment. Dated 1st March, 1916.

12th (Otago) Mounted Rifles.

2nd Lieutenant Samuel Barr Paterson, having been struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, is absorbed into the establishment. Dated 15th March, 1916.

Corps of New Zealand Engineers.—New Zealand Railway Battalions (South Island).

Sergeant-major Neil McLeod Matheson to be 2nd Lieutenant (on probation). Dated 9th October, 1915.

New Zealand Army Service Corps.

Lieutenant Frederick Augustus Macdonald is transferred to the 16th (Waikato) Regiment. Dated 13th March, 1916.

4th (Otago) Regiment.

Captain Richard Jones, having been struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, is absorbed into the establishment. Dated 1st February, 1916.

5th (Wellington) Regiment.

The undermentioned to be 2nd Lieutenants (temp.) during the absence of officers with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force:—

Victor Alfred Mills, vice Lieutenant Gasquoine. Dated 14th March, 1916.

Sergeant-major Francis Henry Sharland, vice Lieutenant Cowles. Dated 15th March, 1916.

6th (Hauraki) Regiment.

2nd Lieutenant (on probation) James William Roy Penney resigns his appointment. Dated 6th March, 1916.

9th (Hawke’s Bay) Regiment.

Major George Walter Cockroft having been struck off the strength of the New Zealand Expeditionary Force, is absorbed into the establishment. Dated 16th March, 1916.

13th (North Canterbury and Westland) Regiment.

Thomas Shankland to be 2nd Lieutenant (temp.), vice 2nd Lieutenant Manning, with the New Zealand Expeditionary Force. Dated 8th March, 1916.

16th (Waikato) Regiment.

Lieutenant Frederick Augustus Macdonald, from the New Zealand Army Service Corps, to be Lieutenant. Dated 13th March, 1916.

New Zealand Medical Corps.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 73/15, of 10th June, 1915, relative to the promotion of Captain David Storer Wylie, F.R.C.S. Eng., to the rank of Major, dated 19th April, 1915, is cancelled.

Captain David Storer Wylie, F.R.C.S. Eng., to be Major during the period of the war. Dated 19th April, 1915.

The notice published in the New Zealand Gazette No. 73/15, of 10th June, 1915, relative to the promotion of Captain Hugh Thomas Dyke Acland, F.R.C.S. Eng., to the rank of Major, dated 19th April, 1915, is cancelled.
