Special Shooting Season for Imported and Native Game, License Fee, &c., Whangarei Acclimatization District.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby exempt from the operation of section twenty-six of the said Act the Whangarei Acclimatization District, and do hereby notify that the following imported game—viz., cock pheasants and Californian quail—may be killed within the Whangarei Acclimatization District, comprising the County of Whangarei and part of the County of Otamatea (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto), from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, both days inclusive; and do hereby restrict the number of cock-pheasants that may be killed by any one person in any one day to twelve, and the number of Californian quail to twelve. And I do further notify that licenses to kill such imported game within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each; and the Postmasters at Whangarei, Waipu, Kamo, Maungakaramea, Whakapara, Aponga, Kiripaka, Limestone, Mangapai, Parua Bay, Ruakaka, Waikiekie, Titoki, Parakao, Poroti, and Hikurangi are hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses to kill imported game.

And I do further notify that the following native game—viz., black swan, grey duck, and teal—may be killed within the above-mentioned district (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, to the thirty-first day of July, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, both days inclusive; and do hereby restrict the number of such native game that may be killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twenty-five head in all.

SCHEDULE.

AREAS WHEREIN IMPORTED AND NATIVE GAME SHALL NOT BE KILLED.

ALL that area in the Auckland Land District, containing by admeasurement approximately twenty-eight square miles, situated in Purua and Whangarei Survey Districts, and comprising all the land within the circumference of a circle having a radius of three miles, and its centre near the hatcheries at the intersection of the eastern boundary of Ketenikau No. 7, in Block VIII, Purua Survey District, with the north side of the road cutting off the extreme south-eastern corner of the said Ketenikau No. 7.

The boundary as exactly indicated above passes approximately through the places locally known as follows: Starting at the north it crosses Kauri Road just south of Big Mountain Trig. Station; thence going westerly and southerly it crosses the Ruatangata Road at Ngararatunua Settlement; afterwards crossing Three-mile Bush Road near Campbell’s; after passing through State Forest Reserves of 1,580 acres and 1,600 acres it strikes Maunu Road near Black Bridge; crossing Otaika Road at Raumanga it passes to the south-east of the Borough of Whangarei, and crosses Head’s Road at Reyburn’s house; after crossing Whareora Road near the caves and Kiripaka Road near the church the boundary passes through Cork’s Farm and back to starting-point; including the Borough of Whangarei and the Town District of Kamo.

Also all lands notified or set apart as sanctuaries or reserves for the preservation of imported or native game.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this fourteenth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN exercise of the powers vested in me by the Animals Protection Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby exempt from the operation of section twenty-six of the said Act the Rotorua Acclimatization District, and do hereby notify that the following imported game—viz., cock pheasants and Californian and Australian quail—may be killed within the Rotorua Acclimatization District, comprising the Counties of Rotorua, East Taupo, and Whakatane, and parts of the Counties of West Taupo, Wairoa, and Matamata (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto), from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, both days inclusive; and do hereby restrict the number of cock pheasants that may be killed by any one person in any one day to twelve. And I do further notify that licenses to kill such imported game within the said district shall be issued to any person on payment of the sum of twenty shillings each; and the General Manager of Tourist and Health Resorts Department, Wellington, or any one authorized by the said General Manager in that behalf, is hereby appointed to sign and issue the said licenses to kill imported game.

And I do further notify that the following native game—viz., teal—may be killed within the above-mentioned district (except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto) from the first day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, to the thirtieth day of June, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, both days inclusive; and that grey duck may be killed during the said period within such district (except upon Lake Rotomahana, also except in the areas mentioned in the Schedule hereto); and do hereby restrict the number of such native game that may be killed by any one person in any one day to not more than twenty-five head in all.

SCHEDULE.

AREAS WHEREIN IMPORTED AND NATIVE GAME SHALL NOT BE KILLED.

ALL that area from Kawaha Point in a line due west to the Tauranga Road, thence by the Tauranga Road and Utuhina Stream to the western boundary of Rotorua Town, thence by this boundary to the Wairoa Road, thence by the Wairoa Road to the Maketu Road, thence by the Maketu Road to signpost at Rotokawa, and thence westerly in a direct line to Kawaha Point.

Also Lakes Okataina, Rotokawa, Rotoaira, and Okareka, and the land within one mile of the shores of these lakes.

Also all land within one mile of the Okere Bridge.

Also all that area in the Auckland and Hawke’s Bay Land Districts being the Waikaremoana Lake and surrounding land, as defined in Gazette No. 30, of 13th April, 1911.

Also Run 79, Rotorua County.

Also all lands notified or set apart as sanctuaries or reserves for the preservation of imported or native game.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor, this twentieth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

Revocation of certain Financial Instructions and Allowance Regulations for the New Zealand Military Forces, and other Regulations substituted in lieu thereof.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred on me by the Defence Act, 1909, and its amendments, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby revoke certain of the regulations made on the thirtieth day of January, one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and in lieu thereof do hereby make the regulations set forth in the Schedule hereto; and I do hereby declare that such revocation shall take effect and such regulations shall come into force on the twelfth day of April, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.

SCHEDULE.

FINANCIAL INSTRUCTIONS AND ALLOWANCE REGULATIONS FOR THE NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES.

SECTION XV, New Zealand Forces Motor Reserve of Officers, is hereby cancelled, and the following substituted in lieu thereof: “Section XV, New Zealand Forces Motor Service Corps.”

  1. When called out for duty, officers shall receive the following daily rates of pay:—

Lieut.-Colonel .. .. .. 15 0 per day.
Majors .. .. .. 12 0 ,,
Captains .. .. .. 10 0 ,,
Subalterns .. .. .. 8 0 ,,

Half rates only will be paid for a tour of duty that does not exceed three hours.
