IN pursuance of the power conferred upon the Native Minister by subsection (b) of section 298 of the Native Land Act, 1909, I, William Herbert Herries, Native Minister, acting on the recommendation of the Waiariki District Maori Land Board, do hereby consent to a sale of Section 27, Lot 260A, Parish of Waimana, containing 1 rood 13 perches, situated in the Provincial District of Auckland, subject to the same restrictions and to the same requirements as to confirmation and otherwise as if the land was not subject to Part XVI of the Native Land Act, 1909.

Notice of Result of Poll on Loan Proposal.
PURSUANT to section 12 of the Local Bodies' Loans Act, 1913, I hereby give notice that at a poll of the ratepayers of the Borough of Thames taken on the 23rd day of March, 1916, on the proposal of the Thames Borough Council to borrow the sum of £5,500 for the purposes following :-
(a.) The repayment of the deficiency on the Electric Lighting Loan Account advanced from Revenue Account £ s. d. 675 3 6
(b.) The repayment of the cost of extensions to the electric-lighting service advanced from Revenue Account .. 1,685 6 4
(c.) The purchase and installation of hydro-electric plant and further extensions to the electric-lighting service .. 3,139 10 2
Total .. .. .. £5,500 0 0
The number of votes recorded for the proposal was 240. The number of votes recorded against the proposal was 36. I therefore declare that the proposal was carried.

Notice to Importers of Sardines.

IT is hereby notified, for general information, that owing to a judgment of the Divisional Court of the High Court of Justice of Great Britain it has become unlawful to apply the term "sardine" to any fish other than the immature pilchard. Norwegian brisling or sprats cannot be described as sardines, and importers are warned that on and after the lst day of October, 1916, no fish wrongly labelled or described as sardines will be permitted to be imported into New Zealand.
