Notice of Intention to change the Purpose of a Reserve in
the Town of Foxton, Wellington Land District.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

WHEREAS by the Public Reserves and Domains Act,
1908, it is, amongst other things, enacted that the
Governor may declare his intention to change, exchange,
or alter the dedication of any public reserve now or here-
after vested in His Majesty or the Governor for any of the
purposes named in Class II of the Second Schedule to the said
Act, whether the same be granted or not; and in the case of
any reserve made under the authority of section three hun-
dred and twenty-one of the Land Act, 1908, if it shall,
in the opinion of the Governor, be expedient to change the
purpose for which such reserve was set apart to any other
purpose, or if it shall, in the opinion of the Governor,
be expedient to exchange any of the land comprised in such
reserve for other land of equal value, to be dedicated to one
or more of the purposes named in the said Class II, the
Governor may, by notice gazetted, make such change,
exchange, or dedication, as the case may be, and in such
notice declare the manner and terms in which the same is
intended to be so made:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of
Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby, in pursuance and exercise of the powers and
authorities conferred upon me by the Public Reserves and
Domains Act, 1908, aforesaid, declare my intention to
change the specific purpose of the reserve described in the
Schedule hereto from a site for a post-office and telegraph-
station to a reserve for railway purposes.

SCHEDULE.

ALL that area in the Wellington Land District, containing
by admeasurement 1 rood, more or less, being Section 583,
Town of Foxton. Bounded towards the north by Govern-
ment reserve, 200 links; towards the east by Main Street,
125 links; towards the south by a closed street, 200 links;
and towards the west by Government reserve, 125 links: be
all the aforesaid linkages more or less: as the same is deline-
ated on the plan marked L. and S. VI/3 (35), deposited in
the Head Office, Department of Lands and Survey, at Wel-
ington, and thereon bordered red.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this eighth day of April, one thousand nine
hundred and sixteen.

Opening Lands in Southland Land District for Sale or Selection.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur
William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the
Dominion of New Zealand, having received the report of the
Under-Secretary in this behalf, as provided by section one
hundred and fifty-four of the said Act, do hereby declare that
the lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open
for sale or selection on Wednesday, the twenty-first day of
June, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen; and also
that the lands mentioned in the said Schedule may, at the
option of the applicant, be purchased for cash, or be
selected for occupation with right of purchase, or on re-
newable lease; and I do hereby also fix the prices at
which the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased, as
mentioned in the said Schedule hereto, and do declare that
the said lands shall be sold, occupied, or leased under and
subject to the provisions of the Land Act, 1908.

SCHEDULE.

SOUTHLAND LAND DISTRICT.—SECOND-CLASS LAND.

Wallace County.—Aparima Survey District.

Section 19, Block V: Area, 339 acres 1 rood 18 perches.
Capital value, £300. Approximate annual rent per acre, 10½d.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £7 10s.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6.

Section 20, Block V: Area, 311 acres 0 roods 4 perches.
Capital value, £315. Approximate annual rent per acre, 1s.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £7 17s. 6d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 6s.

Altitude ranges from 490 ft. to 1,120 ft. above sea-level.
Hilly bush country, with flat to undulating topped spurs;
bush originally consisted largely of birch and rata, with
kamahi, rimu, white-pine, matai, totara, pokaka, broadleaf,
and miro, &c., which is now practically worked out by saw-
mills. Soil generally fair, well watered; suitable for pastoral
purposes, including dairying.

Situated about four miles and a half from Otatau Railway-
station, post-office, and school; about five miles and three-
quarters from Otatau Dairy Factory and about four miles
from Ringway Railway-siding; by road of which about
half a mile is as yet unformed, two miles formed, remainder
formed and gravelled.

Wallace County.—Jacob’s River Hundred.

Section 1, Block XXII: Area, 298 acres 1 rood 10 perches.
Capital value, £265. Approximate annual rent per acre, 10¼d.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £6 12s. 6d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 6s.

Section 2, Block XXII: Area, 280 acres 2 roods 27 perches.
Capital value, £285. Approximate annual rent per acre, 1s.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £7 2s. 6d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £5 14s.

Section 7, Block XXII: Area, 291 acres 3 roods 9 perches.
Capital value, £325. Approximate annual rent per acre, 1s. 1d.
Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £8 2s. 6d.
Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £6 10s.

Altitudes range from 170 ft. to 1,120 ft. above sea-level.
Hilly country, consisting chiefly of broad spurs with flat and
undulating tops. Practically all mixed bush, which has been
worked out by sawmills. Soil fair to good, well watered;
suitable for pastoral purposes, including dairying. Situated
from three miles and three-quarters to four miles and three-
quarters by surveyed roads from Fairfax Railway-station,
dairy factory, and school—about a quarter of a mile formed
and gravelled, remainder as yet unformed.

All sections are subject to existing timber and tramway
rights until cancelled by the Land Board.

dred and sixteen.

IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities
vested in me by the fourth section of the Cemeteries
Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liver-
pool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do
hereby appoint

DAVID FARQUHAR,
WILLIAM MARSHALL,
GILBERT STEWART, and
JOHN AITKEN SOMERVILLE

to be Trustees, in the place of John Dickie, Joseph A.
Anderson, and Jonathan Sarginson, resigned, and Robert
Sutherland, deceased, to provide for the maintenance and
care of the Warepa Public Cemetery, in conjunction with
John Wright and John Ayson, previously appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventh day of April, one thousand nine hun-
red and sixteen.

Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand,
do hereby appoint

CYRIL THOMAS WILD, and
CHARLES BLAKE MASON

to be additional Trustees to provide for the maintenance
and care of the Kowai Public Cemetery, in conjunction
with George Baynton Starkey, Thomas Henry Evans, Rev.
Herbert Edward East, George Sayce Hickman, Frank
Hubert Courage, and George Alexander McLean, previously
appointed.

As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this seventh day of April, one thousand nine hun-
dred and sixteen.
