Soil of fair second-class quality, on clay subsoil; fairly watered by small streams. Distant seven miles and a half from Pirongia, of which six miles is by fair formed road, balance unformed.

Section 12, Block XI: Area, 216 acres 2 roods. Approximate annual rental per acre, 2s. 3d. Capital value, £490. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £12 5s. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £9 16s.
Altitude, 400 ft. to 500 ft. above sea-level. One-third drainable swamp, balance covered with fern, tutu, and manuka; about 60 acres easy country, mostly sandstone rock and unploughable; balance undulating land, mostly ploughable. Light soil of medium quality, on sandstone formation; well watered by small streams, springs, and swamps. Distant seventeen miles from Otorohanga, sixteen miles of which is by formed dray-road, and one mile unformed as yet.

Sections 39 and 40: Area, 104 acres 3 roods 26 perches. Approximate annual rental per acre, 11d. Capital value, £95. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £2 7s. 6d. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £1 18s.
Undulating to broken fern and manuka country. Soil of poor quality generally, fair in places, indifferently watered by swamps. Distant eleven miles from Frankton Junction by cart-road, except the last 15 chains, which is unformed.
Waikato County.—Taupiri Parish.
Section 480: Area, 399 acres 1 rood 13 perches. Approximate annual rental per acre, 2s. 2d. Capital value, £800. Occupation with right of purchase: Half-yearly rent, £20. Renewable lease: Half-yearly rent, £16.
Altitude, 300 ft. to 700 ft. above sea-level. Undulating to broken land, covered with fern and manuka and small clumps of light mixed forest in gullies. Soil of second-class quality, on clay subsoil; fairly watered by springs. Distant twelve miles from Ohinewai by good metalled road.

Opening National Endowment Lands in Auckland Land District for Selection.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance and exercise of the powers and authorities conferred upon me by the Land Act, 1908, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, do hereby declare that the national endowment lands described in the Schedule hereto shall be open for selection on renewable lease on Monday, the twenty-second day of May, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, at the rentals mentioned in the said Schedule; and I do also declare that the said lands shall be leased under and subject to the provisions of the said Act.

Altitude, 100 ft. to 300 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land, covered with fern and manuka. Soil of fair second-class quality, on clay subsoil. Section 21 fairly watered by swampy gully, Section 22 poorly watered by swampy springs. Distant a mile and a half to a mile and three-quarters from Huntly by good formed road.

Rotorua County.—Rotoma Survey District.
Section 4, Block I: Area, 1,467 acres 3 roods 14 perches; approximate annual rental per acre, 7d.; capital value, £1,030; half-yearly rent, £20 12s.
Weighted with £33 10s., valuation for iron whare, grassing, and fencing.
Altitude, 600 ft. to 650 ft. above sea-level. Undulating land; about 50 acres mixed forest comprising tawa, rata, rimu, hinau, &c., with a thick undergrowth of scrub and supplejack; balance fern and manuka land. Fair soil, of a sandy pumice nature, on pumice formation; watered by Pongakawa Stream. Distant thirteen miles and a half from Paengaroa by good formed road, seven miles of which is coach-road, balance by Pongakawa-Rotoehu Road.
