Declaring certain Areas added to the Counties of Hawera and Eltham to be included in certain Ridings of such Counties.

A PROCLAMATION.

WHEREAS by a Proclamation dated the twenty-first day of January, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, and published in the New Zealand Gazette of the twenty-seventh day of January, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen, the boundaries of the Counties of Eltham and Hawera were altered by the inclusion in each of the said counties of a part of the other: And whereas it is desirable that the area so added to the Eltham County should be included in the Eltham Riding of that county, and the area added to the Hawera County should be included in the Ararata Riding of that county:

Now, therefore, I, Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section twenty-two of the Counties Act, 1908, do hereby declare that the area included as aforesaid in the Eltham County shall be included in the Eltham Riding of the said county, and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the First Schedule hereto; and that the area included in the Hawera County shall be included in the Ararata Riding of that county, and that the boundaries of that riding shall be those set forth in the Second Schedule hereto.

FIRST SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF ELTHAM RIDING, ELTHAM COUNTY.

ALL that area in Eltham County bounded by a line along the southern boundary of Stratford County from the middle of the Waingongoro Stream to the middle of the Patea River, along the middle of that river to the northern boundary of Hawera County, along the northern boundary of that county to the middle of the Mangimangi Stream, and along the middle of that stream to the Mangawhero Road; along that road to the south-eastern corner of the Borough of Eltham, thence along the eastern and northern boundaries of that borough to the Waingongoro Stream, and thence to and along the middle of that stream to the southern boundary of Stratford County, the place of commencement.

SECOND SCHEDULE.

BOUNDARIES OF ARARATA RIDING, HAWERA COUNTY.

ALL that area in Hawera County bounded by a line along the southern boundary of Eltham County from the Wellington-New Plymouth Railway line to the middle of the Patea River, along the middle of that river to a point opposite the north-western corner of Section 5, Block I, Opaku Survey District; thence to and along the western boundary of that section to the Pukekino Road, to and along the middle of that road to its junction with the Tangahoe Valley Road, along the middle of that road to the Tangahoe Stream, along the middle of that stream to the Ohangai Road in Block VI, Hawera Survey District, along the middle of that road to its junction with the Tawhiti Road, along the middle of the Tawhiti Road to the Borough of Hawera; thence along the Wellington—New Plymouth Railway line to the Town District of Normanby, along the south-eastern and north-eastern boundaries of that town district, and again along the railway-line to the southern boundary of Eltham County, the place of commencement.

Given under the hand of His Excellency the Right Honourable Arthur William de Brito Savile, Earl of Liverpool, Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of Saint Michael and Saint George, Member of the Royal Victorian Order, Governor and Commander-in-Chief in and over His Majesty’s Dominion of New Zealand and its Dependencies; and issued under the Seal of the said Dominion, at the Government House at Wellington, this twenty-ninth day of March, in the year of our Lord one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
