Public Service Stores Tender Board.—Supply and Delivery of Poles.
Wellington, 24th February, 1916.
TENDERS will be received at the office of the Chairman, not later than 4 p.m. on Wednesday, the 22nd March, 1916, for the supply and delivery, C.I.F. and E., main ports, of 3,890 ironbark poles of various sizes.
Particulars and conditions of tendering may be obtained at the office of the Controller of Stores, Post and Telegraph Department, Wellington; the District Storekeeper, Post and Telegraph Department, Christchurch; or at the offices of the Telegraph Engineers at Auckland and Dunedin.

Applications invited for the Position of District Health Officer, Department of Public Health.
Office of Public Service Commissioner,
Wellington, 29th February, 1916.
APPLICATIONS will be received up to noon on the 14th March, 1916, for the position of District Health Officer, Department of Public Health, Hospitals, and Charitable Aid.

Applications must be addressed to the Secretary to the Public Service Commissioner, Wellington, and must embrace a statement of education and experience, particulars of age, &c.

Applicants must be duly qualified medical practitioners, and the holders of diplomas in public health or other equivalent qualifications in sanitary and bacteriological science.

Preference will be given to applicants under thirty-five years of age.

Duties will be defined later by the Chief Health Officer, Department of Public Health.

The position will be graded in the Professional Division. Commencing salary, £500 per annum.

The successful applicant will not be permitted to engage in private practice, and the appointment will be subject to the provisions of the Public Service Act, 1912.

Notice to Mariners No. 16 of 1916.

NEW SOUTH WALES.
Port Kembla Leading-lights.
THE following are particulars of the leading-lights now exhibited at Port Kembla:—
Position.—On foreshore between Coal Jetties (lat. 34° 28⅓′ S., long. 150° 56′ E).
Details.—Character: Fixed. Two red lights. Elevation: Outer light, 27 ft.; inner light, 50 ft. Distance apart: 670 ft. Visibility: 4 miles; bearing when in line 195° (correct magnetic). Structures: Upper tower of iron, lower tower of wood, both painted white. Variation: 9° 40′ E.
Remarks.—The leading-lights, when in line, lead approximately half a nautical mile to the westward of Inner Tom Thumb Island, and about midway between the northern and eastern breakwaters of Port Kembla.
The astronomical position is only approximate. The bearings given are magnetic of the light from seaward. The visibility of the lights is that in clear weather. The height given is that above mean sea-level.

VICTORIA.
Flashing Light, No. 10 Buoy, South Channel.
Referring to Victorian Notice to Mariners No. 134, dated 28th February, 1913, wherein mariners were notified of the establishment of a double-flashing light at No. 10 buoy, South Channel, mariners are now hereby notified that such double-flashing light has become deranged, and will appear as a single-flashing light until adjusted. Further notification will be given when the proper characteristic of the light is restored.
