✨ Military and Mining Regulations
do hereby amend in the manner and to the extent set forth
in the Schedule hereto such of the regulations for the New
Zealand Military Forces made on the twentieth day of August,
one thousand nine hundred and thirteen; and I do hereby
declare that such amendments shall come into force on the
first day of February, one thousand nine hundred and sixteen.
SCHEDULE.
FINANCIAL INSTRUCTIONS AND ALLOWANCE REGULATIONS FOR
THE NEW ZEALAND MILITARY FORCES.
REGULATION 83 is hereby amended by adding after the words
"Artificers (on appointment)," the words "and clerks
(gunners)."
Regulation 95 is hereby amended by adding the following
sentence: “N.C.Os. may be appointed to the Clerical Section,
and will count service for promotion in the section from the
date of last promotion.”
Regulation 97 is hereby amended by deleting all the words
from the fourth to the seventh line, both lines inclusive.

Amended Regulation under the Mining Act, 1908.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN exercise of the powers conferred upon him by the Mining
Act, 1908 (hereinafter termed “the said Act”), His
Excellency the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand
doth hereby make the following amendment to the regulations
made under the said Act on the third day of August,
one thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and published in the
New Zealand Gazette of the fifth day of August then instant;
and doth hereby order that the amendment to the regulations
hereby made shall be read as part of the said principal regulations, and shall come into force on the day of the gazetting
hereof.
REGULATION.
SUBSIDIES TO LOCAL AUTHORITIES OR MINERS' ASSOCIATIONS
IN AID OF PROSPECTING.
REGULATION 127, subsection (4), is hereby cancelled, and the
following substituted therefor:
- (4.) Under Class I a subsidy at a rate not exceeding
£1 10s. per week per man may be paid by the Minister in
respect of each party of not less than two men whilst prospecting in new ground.

Notice of Application to proclaim a Watercourse, together with
all its Tributaries, for the Deposit of Tailings, &c.
LIVERPOOL, Governor.
IN pursuance of the powers vested in him by the Mining
Act, 1908, His Excellency the Governor hereby notifies
that application has been made to him to constitute and set
apart by Proclamation the watercourses the names, localities,
and descriptions whereof are set forth in the Schedule hereto
to be watercourses into which may be discharged any tailings, debris, and waste water produced by or resulting from
mining operations carried on under the said Act.
Any person who objects to such Proclamation being made,
or whose land, or riparian or other rights in respect of such
land, will be damaged or injuriously affected by the operation thereof, is required to serve on the Minister of Mines,
within the period of ninety days after the publication hereof
in the Gazette, full particulars of such objection, and also a
claim in the prescribed form setting forth full particulars of
all compensation that will be claimed by him in the event of
such Proclamation being made.
No person will be entitled to any compensation for damage
or injury consequent on the operation of such Proclamation
unless his claim is duly served in the manner and within
the period aforesaid.
SCHEDULE.
AUCKLAND LAND DISTRICT.
THAT stream, known as the Otuturu Stream, situated in the
Auckland Land District, which rises in Block XI, Hastings
Survey District, Thames County, and flows generally westerly
for a distance of about one mile and a half to the Firth of
Thames; and also the several tributaries thereof.
As witness the hand of His Excellency the Governor,
this twenty-second day of February, one thousand
nine hundred and sixteen.

Amendments to the Regulations under the Public Service Act, 1912.
IN pursuance and exercise of the authority conferred on him by
the Public Service Act, 1912 (hereinafter called “the said
Act”), the Commissioner, with the approval of the Governor in
Council, doth hereby, in respect of the regulations made under the
said Act on the thirty-first day of March, one thousand nine
hundred and thirteen, and the amendments thereof, amend the
regulations now in force in the manner and to the extent also set
forth in the Schedule hereto. Such regulations and amendments
shall have effect from and after the date of publication thereof in
the New Zealand Gazette.
SCHEDULE.
REGULATION 173 is hereby cancelled, and the following regulation
made in lieu thereof:
Every candidate for the Entrance Examination must give notice
of his intention to sit for the examination. Such notice must be
in the form prescribed, and must be sent so as to be delivered
to the Education Department not later than the 8th of September
next prior to the examination. With the aforesaid notice each candidate must send—
(a.) A receipt for the payment of one pound sterling at some
money-order office of the Post and Telegraph Department in New Zealand. The candidate’s notice may, however, be received between the 8th and 15th September if it
is accompanied with a receipt for a late fee of one pound
paid at some money-order office of the Post and Telegraph
Department in New Zealand.
(b.) The names of the optional subjects chosen by the candidate.
