with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of the
said Dominion, doth hereby order and declare that the
portions of roads described in the Schedule hereto shall, on
and after the date of this Order in Council, become Govern-
ment roads.

SCHEDULE.
APPROXIMATE areas of the pieces of roads declared Govern-
ment roads :-
6 acres 0 roods 23 perches, adjoining or passing through
Rural Sections 29262 and 30103, Blocks IX and X.
16 acres 2 roods 25 perches, adjoining or passing through
Rural Sections 30101, 27729, and 30105, Blocks X and
XIV.

Situated in Coleridge Survey District (Canterbury R.D.).
In the Canterbury Land District ; as the same are more
particularly delineated on the plan marked P.W.D. 39285,
deposited in the office of the Minister of Public Works
at Wellington, in the Wellington Provincial District, and
thereon coloured green.

License authorizing the Sumner Borough Council to erect
Electric Lines within the Borough of Sumner.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this first day of
March, 1916.
Present :
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS by section two of the Public Works Amend-
ment Act, 1911, it is provided that no person shall
lay, construct, place, put up, or use any electric line except
under the authority of a license issued by the Governor in
Council under that Act :
And whereas the Sumner Borough Council (hereinafter
referred to as “the licensee”) desires to erect lines within
the area of supply as defined in the Schedule hereto, and
hereinafter called “the area of supply,” and it is expedient
accordingly to issue a license in respect thereof under the said
section :
Now, therefore, in pursuance and exercise of the powers
conferred upon him by the said section, and of all other
powers in anywise enabling him in that behalf, His Excellency
the Governor of the Dominion of New Zealand, acting by
and with the advice and consent of the Executive Council of
the said Dominion, doth, subject to the conditions set forth
in the Schedule hereto, and to the regulations made under
section two of the aforesaid Act and published in the New
Zealand Gazette dated the twenty-ninth day of April, one
thousand nine hundred and fifteen, and hereinafter referred
to as “the regulations,” hereby authorize the licensee to
erect and maintain electric lines for lighting, power, and heat-
ing purposes within the area of supply hereinafter described,
such electric lines at present proposed to be erected being
indicated by means of broken red lines shown on the plan
marked P.W.D. 39275, and deposited in the office of the
Minister of Public Works at Wellington, in the Wellington
Provincial District.

SCHEDULE.

  1. AREA OF SUPPLY.
    The area of supply comprises the Borough of Sumner as at
    present constituted.

  2. SYSTEM OF SUPPLY.
    The system of supply shall be as described in paragraph
    (e) of clause 2 of the regulations.
    The electrical energy shall be received from the Lake
    Coleridge electric supply at a pressure of 3,300 volts between
    phases for distribution from pole transformers on the three-
    phase four-wire system, as described in paragraph (c) of the
    aforesaid regulations.

  3. DATUM TEMPERATURE.
    For the purpose of calculating the stresses as provided in
    clause 12 of the regulations, the datum temperature shall be
    taken as 12 degrees Fahrenheit.

  4. NOTICES re EXTENSIONS, ETC.
    Records of results of tests (Regulation 37), and notices re
    commencement of work (Regulation 44) and re extensions
    and alterations (Regulation 49), should be sent to the Under-
    Secretary of Public Works, Wellington, and to the Telegraph
    Engineer of the district, or his deputy, at present stationed
    at Christchurch.

  5. CHARGES FOR ELECTRIC ENERGY.
    The charge for electrical energy shall not exceed 6d. per
    unit for lighting purposes, and 3d. per unit for motor-power,
    heating, or cooking purposes; provided that “lighting
    purposes” shall include the operation of motor generators
    for lighting purposes.

  6. DURATION OF LICENSE.
    This license shall, unless sooner determined in accordance
    with the provisions hereinafter expressed, continue in force
    for a period of forty-two years from the date hereof. Upon
    the expiry of the said term, or upon the sooner determination
    of this license by revocation or otherwise, all rights hereby
    granted to the licensee shall thereupon cease and determine ;
    but such expiration or determination shall not relieve the
    licensee of any liability theretofore incurred under this license.

Licensing the Waitemata County Council to use and occupy a
Part of the Foreshore near Springs Creek, Kaipara River,
as a Site for a Wharf.

LIVERPOOL, Governor.
ORDER IN COUNCIL.
At the Government House at Wellington, this first day of
March, 1916.
Present :
His Excellency the Governor in Council.

WHEREAS, there being no Harbour Board empowered
to grant the license hereinafter mentioned, under
the Harbours Act, 1908 (hereinafter called “the said Act”),
the Waitemata County Council (hereinafter called “the
Council”) has applied to the Governor in Council for a license
under the said Act to occupy a part of the foreshore and
land below low-water mark near Springs Creek, Kaipara
River, in order to erect and maintain a wharf thereon ; and,
in accordance with the one-hundred-and-fiftieth section of the
said Act, has deposited a plan in the office of the Marine
Department at Wellington, marked M.D. 4554 (in duplicate),
showing the area of foreshore and land below low-water mark
intended to be occupied, and the manner in which it is
proposed to erect the said wharf :
And whereas it has been made to appear to the Governor
in Council that the proposed work will not be or tend to
the injury of navigation ; and the said plan has, prior to the
making of this Order in Council, been approved by the
Governor in Council :
And whereas it is expedient that a license should be
granted and issued to the Council under the said Act, for
the purpose last aforesaid, on the terms and conditions
hereinafter expressed :
Now, therefore, His Excellency the Governor of the Do-
minion of New Zealand, in pursuance and exercise of the
power and authority vested in him by the said Act, and of
all other powers and authorities enabling him in that behalf,
and by and with the advice and consent of the Executive
Council of the said Dominion, doth hereby approve of the
object for which the said license is required by the Council
as aforesaid ; and, in further pursuance and exercise of the
said power and authority, and with the like advice and
consent as aforesaid, doth hereby license and permit the
Council to use and occupy that part of the foreshore and
land below low-water mark on which the said wharf is to be
erected, as shown on plan marked M.D. 4554 so deposited as
aforesaid, for the purpose of erecting and maintaining the
the said wharf ; such license to be held and enjoyed by the
Council upon and subject to the terms and conditions set
forth in the Schedule hereto.

SCHEDULE.

  1. IN these conditions the term “Minister” means the
    Minister of Marine as defined by the Shipping and Seamen
    Act, 1908, and includes any officer, person, or authority
    acting by or under the direction of such Minister.
  2. The concessions and privileges conferred by this Order
    in Council shall extend and apply only to the part of the
    foreshore and land below low-water mark adjacent thereto
    necessary for the erection of the said wharf, as shown on the
    plan marked M.D. 4554.
  3. All persons shall at all reasonable times, upon pay-
    ment of the proper dues, have free and full liberty to use
